Our newly renovated Victorian house is ideal for large families. Enjoy sitting out on our large front porch having your morning coffee and feel the cool bay breeze. Every bedroom has it's own bathroom. There are 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor that includes: 1 king bed and 3 queen beds. The 3rd floor is an ideal space for kids. There are 3 daybeds with trundles. There is also a kitchenette with a mini fridge and a futon. The house has a living room and a den. Our kitchen is fully equipped to cook meals. There is an outdoor shower and foot wash to make it convenient to wash off after you've come back from the beach. Bikes and beach toys are provided. The house is only 1 block from the beach and is walking distance to main street and the park. Cape Charles is ideal for a family vacation!

If bringing a dog, we require it to be potty trained, crated if left unattended and flea medication applied before arrival. We do charge a $175 non refundable pet fee.

This home is beautiful and very warm and inviting. It’s just 1 short block to town and 2 to the beach, so great location! The property manager was very responsive. We loved our stay!

Great location 2 blocks from the beach. House was perfect for two families. Our kids loved the bunk room and it was great that each bedroom has a bathroom. We also really enjoyed the front porch, which had plenty of seating.

July family vacation

We've vacationed in Cape Charles several times and find it to be perfect for our two grandchildren (ages 5 and 7). This house is spacious enough for our group and close to both the water and the ice cream store. Grand Escape is a very comfortable house with historic charm.

Great location Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Outdoor shower was great when returning from the beach. Plenty of room for 7 adults and 3 children. Plenty of toys for children. Plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas etc. 2 minute walk to beach!!

Great Experience

We’ve stayed as a family of 5 couples for several years now and this home meets all our needs. Everyone has a bedroom with private bath, close to beach, town and restaurants. Owners are very responsive to any questions. Would highly recommend this home!

EXCELLENT!!

This is our second time at Grand Escape and we plan to book again. We LOVE everything about this house ... short walk to the beach, short walk to all the shops, 5 blocks to a great playground and park ... this house is in the perfect location! The house itself is everything you could possibly need with a beautiful front porch for rocking and family time. Our whole family LOVES Cape Charles and this house. It is our home away from home!

Festival Friday in Cape Charles

Family (7adults/3 children) visited cape Charles to attend festival Friday and other holiday events!! House was fantastic! Superb location. Walked to festival, restaurants and pubs. 5 bedrooms all with private bathrooms. Great common areas to gather in down stairs. This was our second stay here and have booked another week next summer. Can’t say enough good things about Grand Escape!

Great home for a family getaway

Great renovated home that provided a comfortable landing for our multi-generational post-Christmas family getaway. Rooms are big and provide ample opportunity for people to gather, linger at the dinner table after dinner, or watch a movie together. Bedrooms are all on the second and third level; our adult sons loved taking over the third floor suite. House location is just 1 1/2 blocks off the beach, and Cape Charles has the perfect blend of a well kept small-town beach community that has a blend of old and new; great little downtown with restaurants, brewery and distillery and shops; community has sidewalks and great opportunities to walk in the neighborhood or along the beach. We did a day excursion to Yorktown which was fun. We'd definitely be back!

Perfect Location!

We LOVED the GREAT ESCAPE home. Its so close to the beach, we questioned if we really even needed a golf cart. I almost dont want to tell people how great this house is bc it will get booked before we can decide our week for next year! 4 bedrms+++, all rooms have their own bathroom and AC unit, 3rd level is huge with the biggest bathroom. 3rd level is very nicely air conditioned with plenty of room for lots of kiddos or dog crate! Kitchen is VERY well stocked with everything you need..including a blender and Keurig.

Family Thanksgiving

The house was spacious and charming, perfect for our large group. Absolutely loved that everyone had their own space, but that the commons areas could accommodate us all for activities. House was stocked with everything we could think to need. Our only issue was temperature, and the inability to control the thermostat. First night we were chilly and second night we were baking, but we got it right by day 3. That was such a minor thing compared to all of the perks of the house. I would 100% book again.

Grand Escape Cape Charles

We had 7 adults and 3 young children for the stay. The house was perfect and the location was better! 1 Block to a great beach for toddlers and 1 block to restaurants shops etc. Communication and support from property owner was outstanding! Came back from the beach our first day and the outdoor shower was not working properly. Texted owner to make them aware. Within an hour the owner came by and changed the shower heads in both outdoor showers! Did not expect that!! Bottomline on our 4th day there we booked another week for next summer. Entire family voted to stay at Great Excape again. thanks for a wonderful house to have a great vacation in!!

Various plumbing issues

A lovely home, clean and appealing, great location; however, every guest had a story to tell about the plumbing in their bathroom. Stoppers that close and won’t reopen, hot water way too hot for safety, dual spigots that don’t allow one to mix cold with hot before the hot hits your left hand (makes washing one’s face very difficult, jiggly faucets and slippery tubs are a partial list. Also, there is no hot tub (as was in the listing). Lastly, my first VRBO experience, and maybe this was just this owner, but check-in at 4pm and out by 10am means paying full price for an 18 hour day. I don’t believe it should take 6 hours to clean even a house this large considering the amount of effort we were asked to put into cleaning up after ourselves. Maybe I don’t understand the other end of the business.

Another terrific stay!

This year was our fifth staying at The Grand Escape. It’s perfect for families and larger groups. Everyone was comfortable and appreciated the roominess and cleanliness of the house. The location can’t be beat, two blocks to the beach and one short block to Mason Avenue! We especially love sitting on the front porch. Thanks for another great stay!

Love this property for our multigenerational family. Close to everything and everyone has the space they need. Property is dog friendly and the cleaning crew isn’t the best at getting up dog hair. We have dogs at home so we can deal with it but anyone who is sensitive to dog hair or dander may want to find a dog free property.
