The home had so many lovely personal touches. The peaceful and quiet atmosphere was everything we wanted. Loved being able to go on hikes on the property. Would absolutely recommend this property to anyone. Sherry and Gary y’all are legit.
Me and my now husband stayed there a couple of nights before getting married in Gruene and it was such a lovely spot. The property is beautiful, the cottage is so cozy and clean. Whatever scent they use within the cottage, it smelled amazing the whole time we were there. The owners are very sweet and accommodating. We needed to arrive early and they allowed us to check in way before their usual check in time. We would love to come back in the spring time when the flowers are blooming. Thank you for our stay!
Peaceful and relaxing location with great access to attractions in the hill country
We enjoyed everything about this property and the great attention to detail. We had everything we needed, and will definitely be planning another trip back. We enjoyed a day in Wimberly, another day in Gruene, but also spent a day just exploring the trails and beautiful views on property. If you are looking to unplug and relax, this is a great spot to do so!
We stayed in the Gingerbread Cottage (#4) at Canyon Peaks. The property is approximately 15 minutes from Wimberley or Canyon Lake, depending on the direction! Perfectly placed!
The cottage is far from rustic! It is beautifully decorated with whimsical touches such as a table lamp made from a musical instrument; cute notes in frames and nicely labeled light switches - one stating this doesn't go to anything!; the bedding is luscious with a huge window above that can be left with the shade up for a moonlit night or with the shade down. The furnishings are tasteful and sturdy with a mix of antique and French chic. Very nicely laid out and the fireplace is beautiful (not cool enough to use while there but a pretty placement nonetheless).
The cabin itself is nestled in front of a copse of trees with a front porch view of the hills and wildlife. In the evening, we built a fire in the outdoor firepit and watched the stars and took advantage of the nice breeze and the bbq pit nearby that was perfect to grill a couple of steaks on.
In the mornings, we gathered fresh eggs from the chicken coup and made wonderful breakfasts in the well stocked kitchen - such a treat!
We are already planning our next trip there and will venture out on the property more as there are great hiking trails and excellent views from all around. We stay at a lot of B&Bs and VRBOs and this property, by far, is one of our favorites.

Cute cabin with just about the right amount of everything
My wife and I stayed here while on a trip to see a show at the white water amphitheater. The location is wonderful and the accommodations were clean, inviting and even romantic as we had the entire property to ourselves for two nights. There are a few things that could make these cabins and the property itself more of a destination. Right now, it is a wonderful place to sleep on the way to somewhere else.
I am giving this place a 5 star instead of a 4 because the owners seem like good folks and i think they are open to new ideas such as the ones below.
1. Outdoor destination: Needs to be a map of the property so that visitors know where they can wonder. There is breathtaking terrain that is on the property that has gates that say no trespassing that it turns out is open to guests. This is a lost opportunity to make the property a hiking destination with views...(create a sun set/rise look out and put a bench up their or something) all very marketable!
2. Kitchen essentials: Kitchen needs an oil or butter for cooking the absolutely amazing farm fresh eggs that we harvested ourselves. (This is a huge value to the property..the chickens and eggs are a very nice experience.) Local butter would be a nice touch if available. Coffee creamer (dry or wet) would be a nice touch as well.
3. Partner with a local vineyard: We were thrilled to find a complimentary bottle of wine as well cheese and crackers but it was a California wine. There are lots of local vineyards around here. I suggest partnering with one or more so that your business can be used to promote theirs and vice versa. You can place wine pamphlets out for participating vineyards.
A few added suggestions:
-have fire for the fire pit well stocked and close
-have a noice machine or fan for bedrooms to drown out any late night traffic form the road for light sleepers.
-Put a hammock out by the fire pit in the grouping of three trees.
-have more activities available in case your guests want to stay on the property. ie: bocci ball, bags, treasure map for kids, geocaching for adults, etc.
All in all, we loved this place and we would come back. Thank you
This was my favorite trip I have had with my husband of 22 years! The cottage was super cute and ALL the amenities you could ask for. We stayed at #4 (pet friendly) and our plus one enjoyed all the smells and hikes he could sustain. Dog bed, dog bowels ready to go! Sherry and Gary left a beautiful bottle of wine with cheese and crackers to enjoy. They have fresh eggs daily in the chicken coupe to gather (and not actually get in the coop). That was a plus as chickens and I do not mix well with them thinking they need to roost in my curly hair. It was so close to the river and easy back and forth. We will be back!
The property was beautiful! Great location! Our dogs loved the trails and the special touches that welcomed them! Definitely will stay again!

Piece of heaven
Sherry and Gary knocked it out of the ballpark as for as were were concerned! These hosts thought of everything, right down to a snuggly dogbed for Shelby. The farm cottage is darling! Plus clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed collecting freshly laid eggs from their ladies in the coop. While they are right off the highway, you don’t hear road noise once inside the cottage. Great place to land for a while. Easy access to various places. Thanks again!! We’d love to return.

Absolutely loved cottage #4!! It was exactly what we needed for a romantic getaway!
Everything was perfect about this cottage! It was extremely cozy and the perfect addition to our romantic getaway! There was a grocery store not too far either so it made it super easy to get things we had forgotten and groceries for our stay!
