Reception was very welcoming and helpful, the room was clean and spacious. While a little old it was well equipped - our biggest problem was finding instructions, for the aircon, the microwave, and the bathroom heating, which we didn't work out until just as we were leaving. We hadn't realised that there were rooms in the older / historic bit of the property, which we would have been interested in booking had we known they were there.

The room was spacious and clean. It was in a great location, within walking distance of both the sea and the city. The staff were also kind. I would love to stay here again on a future trip.

6/10 Okay

Liked: Staff & service
Upon arrival on a Thursday early afternoon, we found the twin room clean with reception informing us our room would be cleaned again on the Saturday. When we returned later that day (Saturday), the sheets were not changed, the rubbish bins not emptied and the bathroom had not been cleaned either. This was reported to reception who apologised but there was no offer to clean the room the following day. Pretty poor on their part. Upon our departure (spent 4 nights there), we were asked by reception if everything was satisfactory, once again we mentioned that the room had not been cleaned on the second night of our stay as stated and the Clifton stated that we should have been offered a clean the following day. Well too late since we were leaving to go home to Perth metro area. However the good point, at night time, the surroundings were quiet and you could get a decent night sleep. There was sufficient parking during our stay. Also a decent cafe down the road from the Clifton which offered options for a $12 breakfast. For dinner plenty of restaurant options too. Not a variety of shops nearby however. Overall our stay was comfortable. The Clifton is an old establishment and the owners should consider updating/renovating the venue a little.
