We stayed in this Mansion for 2 weeks on vacation we had a standard room. The floors creak, the doors bang and I would expect nothing less from a restored old home. What we didn't expect was the gracious and helpful staff. They took care of anything needed from making reservations to helping locate banking facilities. Their English was excellent and they were always friendly. We ended our stay with hugs and hopes to return someday. I have never received hugs from a chain hotel.
A quaint boutique hotel with character, close to the Subte metro system and a block from the San Telmo Market

Could Be a Great Boutique Hotel
What a wonderful old house in an historic part of the city. The murals throughout the building really add character. So why not five out of five? Annoyances, a constant light over the door, a tango school that was advertised but constantly closed, water supply that was often off for no explanation. The conversion from old dwelling to a character boutique hotel has been done well so these failings were more noticeable. A great pity.

Great location, unique hotel.
Bit like staying in a tango museum but no dancing took place while we were there. Great staff, really helpful. Good location with good pubs and reasonably priced restaurants nearby. Building needs maintenance soon but is a great experience at present. More a stay for the adventurous than the standard tourist. Loved it.

Definitely a one-off, for good and not-so-good
Sure is quirky, whatever that is. Magnificent mini-palace, over 100 years old, packed with character, high ceilings, chandeliers, antique furniture etc. Not for the visually or mobility impaired, apart from glass-domed entrances, rooms and corridors are dark, many without windows, and there are many many stairs including steep marble staircase to get to reception. Offers tango lessons in basement ballrooms which could be fun if you are a couple or a group. To my great disappointment, the rooftop pool and jacuzzi were empty of water and there was nothing up there except for pigeons and even they looked depressed.
We chose this hotel for our group of 4 in order to avoid the standard cookie cutter hotel experiencel. We were not disappointed. It is quite charming, unique and comfortable. The San Telmo neighborhood has an authentic vibe to it and was safe to explore on foot. We walked to the Plaza de Mayo and on to Recoleta but it was a long walk. Taxi ride back to the hotel was safe and inexpensive. Would not hesitate to recommend for a unique stay in BA.
The building is beautiful from the front door to the interiors. The charm of the old architecture is a big attraction. Rooms are big with good beds. Being very old, there was some dust and mildew in the air, I suppose impossible to remove completely. Occasional problems with water going off and other little things. Nice San Telmo location. Very friendly and helpful guy working when we arrived, the weekend and holiday staff we had on the other days not as much, though no problems with them. Breakfast was fine, as hotel breakfasts go.

All in All was a good stay. The staff that spoke English was great, they bent over backwards to help. However not all staff spoke English. Bring your own alarm clock, wake up service..not so much. Hopefully people who stay in Spanish speaking areas know more Spanish than we did. Make sure you ask in advance what the private car(shuttle) fee is, the hotel said one thing, the driver jacked it up on completion of ride to airport, was good to know what should have been, driver not happy , but finally accepted fare quoted by hotel. As of Dec 6th 2016, Outdoor hot tub not working, Both exterior and interior nice, however pictures were taken awhile ago. Nice people, Nice hotel,Has nice decor, Excellent breakfast.
It was an amazing building with nicely decorated lobby and rooms. It was quiet and we have a very good sleep. Breakfast was good but only serve until 10am. The stuff at the reception had no smile on their face to welcome the guest. There are Tango classes offer to Tango lovers all day.
This hotel is in an old mansion and they have retained all the charm of the original building - plus tons of fabulous murals on the walls. If you want new and modern, this isn't for you. But if you want a hotel in the heart of San Telmo, full of charm, with a wonderful staff then by all means stay here.
This is a charming old mansion in the heart of San Telmo. Since the building is over 100 years old, things are a bit worn. But the service is excellent (especially from Christin and Franco) and they have tango lessons every night in one of the ballrooms. Once a week there is a neighborhood milango. You can't get better than that in Buenos Aires. And the hotel is just a few blocks from one of the main metro lines so getting to other parts of the city is pretty easy. I enjoyed this place so much that I extended my stay....three times!
This is a charming old mansion that is now a charming old boutique hotel. If you want new and cookie-cutter, this place isn't for you. But if you want atmosphere and soul, try it. The neighborhood is great - both day and night. It's convenient to the metro system. The staff is friendly and helpful (especially Franco and Cristin). In fact, I liked it so much that I extended my stay - twice!
beside some difficulties we had with the booking, the reception manager managed to solve the problem. all the staff very kind and helpfull, it would be great if they would have more information about Buenos Aires and reccommendation about restaurants, etc.
Delightful building, roof pool and tango classes..
Very pleasant, and intiguing decor. Not luxurious but lovely

Faded Grandeur
I chose this hotel because it looked atmospheric and unique. I wanted to experience the historic San Telmo area, and this faded Grande Dame looked perfect for settling into the feel of old Buenos Aires. It is the home of a wealthy Italian family over 100-years-old and retains many of its original design elements. And the staff are kind and helpful, especially the manager Christian. I loved my room, which had 15' ceilings and a floor-to-ceiling stained glass wall. The foyer and stairwell are grand and the tango-themed murals add to the atmosphere. This is supposed to be a "tango hotel," and it offers both group and individual tango lessons in its adjacent milonga room (neighborhood milongas there every Thursday evening).
Brings you back into time staying in this historic hotel. We had a mixed experienced with the staff, a bit more formal than we prefer but helpful. Location was good - we really enjoyed San Telmo. Took a tango lesson next door which was very fun- they were very patient with us.
This is barely a 2 star hotel. No English TV, linen service spotty, staff very helpful but hotel has very few amenities. Middling neighbourhood but basically safe. Good restaurants nearby. Air conditioning, if it exists was not on despite hot days and warm evenings.

Kom meg greitt gjennom dagene i BA. Litt lang vei til sentrum. Vennlig innstilt betjening.

Happy Dandi
I can't stress enough,if this hotel had not had the manager Christian there, this review wouldn't of been the same. I messed my booking up a little, and Christian sorted it with no fuss or stress. Yes the hotel is shabby in some areas, but it is full of charm and beauty. The staff were helpful and their recommendations were brilliant. There is a square not too far & you can walk, which had wonderful bars and coffee shops. They had a mixture of dancing and bands in various bars which made for a brilliant end to the evening. Christian was was a mind of information and helped us so much with anything we asked. Breakfast was basic, but plenty. Four of us stayed there and not one of us would of switched the location.
No volvería.
