I came to the loyal duke lodge for a vacation by myself. The lady there was so nice and gave me an upgrade, which meant so much since I had been going through a hard time. This place was so amazing and it really made my Stay so relaxing and fun. Staff was very friendly and was always available for questions about the town and were to eat. I will be coming back here yearly to have a ZENCATION again. Thank you!!

The views are great, rooms are well appointed, simple and sweet. Great value for the price. The breakfast is lovely and the sitting area is sweet and cozy - nice to mingle with other guests. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time here and will continue to stay at this location when we are here in Salida. The majority of the staff we interacted with were amazing. We loved a place that is truly dog friendly. It was sad that the lady when we checked out Monday morning was very rude and dismissive.

Thank you for staying with us. I believe you're referring to the interaction outside with your two dogs when the front desk lady asked you repeatedly to please keep your dogs away from her dog as they were charging her dog. There is nothing rude or dismissive about asking to get control of your dogs and keep them away. We are very dog friendly, but we have to respect the boundaries people have for their dogs. Not all dogs or people are comfortable with 2 strange dogs charging them.

Easy to find, though the entrance driveway is a little weird being right at a traffic light on a main road/hwy. It is right across from the rec center. Like the flooring in the room, rather than typical carpeting. Everything was clean and functional.

Kids make a lot of noise above me and the rooms are not insulated well from outside noise. Every time someone comes down or walks by, you can clearly delineate the conversation. Much less kids running up and down steps

The motel was nicely refreshed. For the family it’s nice because it has an indoor pool and soaker tub and two hot tubs outside. Very basic continental breakfast. Great value. Would stay again

Staff are the best. WiFi was great. Hotel could use some better pillows and some updating in the bathroom fans. Other than that we were very happy about our stay and felt the property was very clean and safe. Loved the hot tubs (all 3) and pool. Great walking distance from food and Walmart.

Had a lovely check in process and front desk clerk was super nice and helpful. The lobby is adorable and cozy. Room was great - clean and newly painted with nice accent touches lights, furniture. I would def stay here again!

Good reasonable place to stay. Older motel clean very friendly, helpful staff I Continental breakfast they start serving at 7:30. You can sit and chat and have your coffee or grab your food and coffee and head up to the mountain to get a good parking spot.

The Gentleman that checked us in was VERY ACCOMMODATING!! He fulfilled our request to switch our room. Very patient and pleasant Originally the room we were given, 211 had a very poor, thin, outdated mattress compared to the previous rooms we had stayed in that had a more updated pillow top comfortable mattress. The next morning we called for an 11am checkout, and the lady only offered us a 10:30am because of the day she said. The hotel was quite empty. Also we were disturbed at 10am by the housekeeper when we had the 10:30am check out.

Loyal Duke was great! Friendly staff. Good service. Pet friendly. Excellent pool and hot tubs. Only complaint was that our door had a substantial gap (1/2 inch) that let in the cold air underneath. A couple of towels took care of it when we were in the room.

The bed was extremely comfy! The area is quiet. The staff is wonderfully friendly and polite. I’m pretty confident that if we visit Salida again, we won’t need to look for anywhere else to stay.

Nice enough, good location, Beds are horrible.
The beds were soooooo bad. I had a bad back and could hardly walk from the 3 nights on the horrible mattress. I needed to see a chiropractor for right hip and going tomorrow for left hip. My granddaughter reports the same issue.

This is probably our third stay there. They are always welcoming and friendly, the place is clean, our dogs are welcome, and the pool is warm. Standard breakfast. Love the Loyal Duke dog park down the street too!

Barbara was absolutely spectacular—incredible customer service and a genuinely sweet person. The sink was cracked, which was the only small drawback—but we didn’t get any leaks and the warmth of the staff more than made up for any small cosmetic imperfections.

Disappointing Old Motel
I know I’m in the minority with this review because most are glowing but I was not impressed with this motel. We wanted to spend as little time as possible at the motel in our room and ended up checking out a night early and eating the cost of that night. We arrived at the motel and check-in was a breeze and the attendant was very friendly. That’s where our satisfaction with the motel ended. We walked in our room and were met with a very musty, stale smell. The room had been updated but it didn’t take long to see that the updates were cheap and at the end of the day, it’s still a tired old motel. The bathroom had the most issues. The door to the bathroom would not shut. There was no counter space to put anything on beyond a toothbrush and bar of soap. Tiles were missing from the wall. The king rooms are tiny and are crowded with too much stuff including a king size bed, full size couch, microwave, fridge, table and two chairs. The table and chairs block the closet area, and the TV blocks the mirror. There is only a tiny amount of space between the bed and the wall to walk around. The free breakfast is a nice touch but the options aren’t great and are items all cold so we ended up going elsewhere for breakfast. There is also very little room in the breakfast area to sit and eat. The parking lot is tight and small, and in the winter time is very icy so watch your step. The motel is trying hard but still has a ways to go.

Thank you for staying with us. The front desk was not alerted by you about any issues. When you left in the afternoon significantly past the check out time, you just gave us your keys and said you decided to leave early. You didn't alert us again to any issues. The bathroom door is shutting properly in your room. We're not sure what odor you are referring to. There are no missing tiles, I am guessing you are referring to the 4 white tiles (all other tiles are blue) behind the toilet where the plumbing goes through. We have a continental breakfast, where yes most items are cold. But, there is oatmeal, hard boiled eggs , bagels and breads. We have a microwave and a toaster. The breakfast "area" is the front desk. Unfortunately we do not have the facilities to make a hot breakfast nor have a proper dining area. The continental breakfast is grab and go, guests are welcome to take the item to their rooms. There are carrying trays just for that purpose. The Meadow King rooms other than the 1 Monarch Suite Room and the 1 Duke Family Suite, are the largest rooms we have with plenty of space to maneuver around. Guests always ask if we have a microwave and a fridge in the rooms and that's why we have them in every room. Our parking lot can get icy at times, just like anywhere else that has snow during their winter months. Our staff is great with keeping all the common walk ways clear of ice for our guests. There is enough parking for all the rooms , and yes it can get tight when rooms have multiple vehicles. We've never had a guest not be able to park on the property.
