The location is conveniently close to Nord station, but it isn't the most welcoming with a lot of nous from the police station nearby.
The room was super large, but it wasn't super clean: the floor was sticky, and overall, it could use a little refreshment.
I knew I was taking a risk on this hotel stay considering the previous reviews. However, the convenience to the metro station was the only reason I continued with the booking.
The hotel front desk staff were unenthusiastic and dismissive of any questions that we had. The room was dingy, old and in disrepair. The hotel and surrounding area did not feel safe.
If I could turn back time, I would definitely have rebooked at another hotel.

Nice staff - but the surroundings are not good
This hotel is located very close to Brussels Red Light District, which may be a somewhat unpleasant surrounding for many people, especially at night.
It is also very close to the railway. If your room faces the street you will hear the trains.
You had to pay for the Wi-Fi, but the bandwidth was terrible low. It was not possible to surf, just check the e-mail.
The positive side is that rooms are clean and spacy and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast, with an Asian touch, was also more than you usually may expect in many Brussels budget hotels.

Good locaton for basic needs
Got what I needed - overnight stay (and breakfast) for meetings elsewhere next day, chosen because of location and rate, primarily. Always need Internet connection, and it worked fine. Would do again.

Close to the train station. A little too close!
This hotel is adequate but by no means fancy. The rooms are clean and have the basic amenities. The hotel is located very close to the North Brussels Train Station, which makes it convenient for transit, but it also means that you must put up with the sound of trains entering and leaving the station at all hours. The hotel is not very convenient when traveling by car, as there is limited parking and many of the surrounding streets are one-way.
The area in which the hotel is located is pretty seedy. There are a handful of strip clubs, s3x shops, and other red-light district establishments surrounding the hotel. The area to the eastern side of the North Train Station is pretty rough compared to the drastic difference on the western side (literally "the other side of the tracks").
Breakfast is included in the price, which is unusual for hotels in Brussels. The breakfast consists of both traditional Asian fare, as well as a nice variety of buffet items. Internet access is an additional charge.
Overall, if you are looking for a single-night stay that is convenient to the train station, the Chao Chow Hotel is not a bad option. For a more luxurious and comfortable stay at about the same price, check out the Husa Park Presidential Hotel that is only a few short blocks away in a much more desirable part of town.

Do not stay at this hotel! Yes, it is cheap and it is indeed just across the street from the train station. And the trains stop running over night so that's not that bothersome after all. But you know what's also right next to the train station? The red light district - and in Brussels that means Amsterdam-style nekkid ladies in store-front windows and *very* sketchy characters on the sidewalks in front - right outside the hotel!! "The hotel is close to the city's vibrant nightlife...", hah!!
And even worse - the hotel is indeed non-smoking now, but they didn't exchange the carpets (or anything else) since a couple of decades ago - I had to figure out how to unscrew the inner windows to get air into the room in the middle of winter - it was that or just leave to another hotel in the middle of the night and just a few hours before going to the airport, the fumes creeping out of the carpet become too overpowering after a while.
And as a bonus gesture of ill will, when you sign up for wireless it is to be paid in cash at the front desk - and "there will be no refund if the signal is too weak in your room" (actual quote!), it doesn't work well on all floors and the only way to find out is to pay 10 Euros first. It actually worked kind of ok in my room but that was a small consolation. No idea where they got 3 stars from, 1 would be more appropriate (and, come to think about it, even in a 1 star hotel I expect to be able to breathe), everything else is false advertising. Yes, it is cheap, but how much are you willing to suffer for it?!

Nicely located just next to the nord station. Rooms are large, by no means fancy, but totally acceptable and great for 50 eur per night.
Intenet connection is available for 10 eur per day, but is incredibly slow and basically useless, so I recommend rather finding an online cafe.

. .ma visto il prezzo . . .nel complesso OK.

This is my favourite hotel in
This is my favourite hotel in Brussels: very good location for getting to the airport, and close to metro; large rooms well equiped, and very reasonable pricing. To reach perfection in my eyes it would need only to add the tea making facilities in the rooms and hot breakfast buffet incl. eggs.

Having stayed in many hotels in
Having stayed in many hotels in many cities over three decades, this is by far the most noisy one. All rooms overlook the main road, which is an echo chamber. It amplifies various noises -- cars beeping their horns, police sirens wailing, people shouting, etc. These noises continue throughout the night. For that reason, I have ticked 'location' as 'very bad'. Also the hotel's water/heating system periodically makes noises throughout the night, especially around 5am. Everything else was ok, but that is little consolation. If you are not accustomed to sleeping despite such noises, then choose another hotel.
