Great value for money; very pleasant staff, especially on reception, who went above and beyond; good breakfast. Some good middle eastern restaurants just around the corner. Only negative, currently, is that the area around the hostel is being redeveloped.
We recently stayed at Hostel Van Gogh during our trip to Brussels, and overall, we had an amazing stay. It’s a solid choice for travelers looking for a comfortable and well-located spot in the city.
The Highlights
• Cleanliness: Our rooms were impressively clean and well-maintained, which made coming back after a long day of sightseeing very relaxing.
• Breakfast: They offer a decent free breakfast to start your day. It’s a great perk, though it is worth noting it’s a continental style without eggs. While we enjoyed it, adding eggs to the spread would definitely take it to the next level!
• Staff: Most of the team was incredibly helpful and approachable, making us feel welcome from the start.
• Value: At just €2 to rent a towel, it’s a small and fair price to pay if you didn't pack your own.
A Small Note
The only slight downside to our experience was during check-in. While most staff were great, one lady wearing eyeglasses was laughing at us for no apparent reason, which felt a bit unprofessional and confusing in the moment. Thankfully, the rest of the team more than made up for it!
Overall Verdict: We highly recommend Hostel Van Gogh for its cleanliness and friendly vibe. We would definitely stay here again!
The price was the lowest in terms of the location, that is why we have chosen to stay there. The beds are as of these pads used in PE lessons. So It is up to you, it was not amazingly comfortable. We had a problem with the noise made by a group staying in the same floor as us, and when we went downstairs to complain they were suuuuuper helpfull. Amazing staff. The service was amazing as well at breakfast, everyone was so helpfull. Thank you so much.
Stayed in "private family room" which was basic but comfortable and clean. Hostel common areas were spacious and clean. Hostel was quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Area around hostel is a bit sketchy, but not bad.
Basic hostal with basic accomodations, for being a first timer in a european hostal, it was a little shocking to get your own sheets for example..location was good, close to a metro station and 20 minutes walk from the city centre
You get what you pay for: we stayed a night there. The area is not so nice but the room was clean. The bathroom was extremely small and we had to put the sheets on the beds ourself. A very simple breakfast was included. For the price it was fine.
Had to make your own bed and pay extra for towel. Tiny bathroom. Beds were small and uncomfortable

When you check in they give you the linen, blanket and pillow case. You have to make your own bed and strip it in the morning to bring down to laundry container. No towel, you have to pay $2 if you want one. Daily rate is too high when you have to make your own bed and no towel provided. Will not stay in this place again.
It was overall good, everyone was really helpfull but the room had a few problems, the shower had hair and when used it wouldn't drain all the water and sometimes it would spill some water outside meaning we had to wait to shower.
The calefactor on the dorm didn't work perhaps it was our fault but it did bother us a little.
The breakfast was nice but I won't lie we expected more that's all on that regard.
Last but not least and perhaps this was more on us but it came as a shock to us the fact that we had to pay for the towels, maybe it's normal and we just didn't know if that's the case make it more clear for numb clients like us, thank you for having us!!
Everything else was good.
