The place was clean, spacious, easy to get too and comfortable. We enjoyed the deer and cat on the property. We look forward to staying there again in the future.
Two adults and 4 kids had plenty of room to stretch out across this very large cabin. Everything was as advertised and our children had an unforgettable experience. We might even stay here again next year.
We booked the cabin last minute for a family vacation and had the BEST time! The home was clean, beautiful, and perfect for our kids ranging in age from 3-10! They had games there we played as a family and our kids LOVED the cat that was around. We will definitely visit again!

House was nice however bathrooms were not clean and kitchen as well. Dirty utensils in canisters so we had to clean anything before we used it. Showers and tubs need replaced very dirty from grime and mold. Pool was nice Property nice but overgrown Grill needs an update. Property was not well maintained the grass was very high and door was broken for the lock pad so they left a key under the mat.
This lodge was even more beautiful in person! The property was private and has great views. The deer farm was so cool to learn about and it was so cool to stand in the kitchen and see the deer. Our kids loved the hot tub and barn cats! The trails at Hocking Hills hills State Park were breathtaking! Also, the children's museum in Logan was amazing!
Lovely property with lots of wildlife to enjoy. Our favorite was the little Siamese-type kitty! Hard to say goodbye to her/him! 😊

The Lodge has a lot of potential with some renovations and maintenance. Wonderful location, BUT you should know as a Verizon customer my phone was in SOS the entire time. Also, the internet provided is the speed and technology from 10 years ago. No bandwidth for streaming and social media access is limited. So, there is no connecting for work emergencies. All the items mentioned above can make it perfect for some and tough for others. You just need to recognize the circumstances.
We enjoyed our stay and found the property to be welcoming and well equipped. The property was close enought to town and trails to be convenient but secluded and rural enought to unplug with dark skies, and quiet tranquility. There was a few small issues with the stove not working but we made due with what we had.
Beautiful estate with spacious gathering areas. Many places to choose from for a relaxing view or group entertainment. Breathtaking home and comfortable. Several details not typical in vacation rentals such as hand soap, ample toilet paper, multiple towels, etc. Kitchen only adequately stocked. Floor in one room was a tripping hazard and needs repaired.
Our stay at Grand Slam Lodge was wonderful! The lodge was beautiful inside and out. Our only problem was with the upstairs fireplaces and the response from 1st Choice Lodging was quick. Bernie was able to get the bedroom fireplace working but not the den fireplace. We were given a very informative tour of the deer farm by Russell who was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed interacting with the cats especially the one who stayed outside on the deck. We had a great time and would definitely stay again!
Property was very nice. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Very friendly outdoor cats greeted us any time we were outside. Deer were fun to see. Internet was very slow and we were not able to stream. Internet speed was mentioned in several reviews as well as in the property listing. Main reason for 4 rating is condition of hot tub, jets not working and hot tub not clean. Hot tub was a must when we chose our rental.
This place is as listed, and the host was very responsive to our questions. There was lots of space for 6 of us to have multiple activities going on at the same time. While not included in the photos, there is a game room in the basement with a tv, pool table, fireplace and 2 comfy sofas. The kitchen is completely stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. We used both ovens and did not have any issues with them. We did notice that the current ovens are different than the ovens in the current photos. The living room furniture and beds are comfortable. We did not want to leave!
This property is beautiful! The stay was relaxing and restful. The check-in process was a bit disappointing. We got to the property after dark and there was a gate with a code. I could not find the gate code in my email because there is no cell coverage. I had to go back out and search my email. The gate code was imbedded in the email and easily missed. Needless to say, it was stressful. Once on the property it was wonderful.
I can echo some of the other reviews of this place that others have posted. The place was very clean upon arrival. The management staff was very attentive to any of my messages getting back with me right away even when my children asked me to get the names of the friendly cats at the lodge. I was very impressed with all aspects that were controllable by the staff. The lodge was decorated with a small Christmas atmosphere which really set the mood for our families stay. One of the things I will add that I didn’t see in other reviews is just how great the setup of the lodge is for multiple families with slightly different schedules. There are three very distinct areas for each bedroom that helped for different bedtimes and wake up times. As well as the kitchen and dining area being away from the other side of the house allowed our different groups to go to bed when they wanted and wake up when they wanted with little intrusion. I think this is something that can be hard to find with places and this place was great for it. I would and will be looking to book this place again.
The cabin is very spacious and clean. We would consider staying again. We would give it a 5 star rating had the A/C issue been addressed. Upon arrival the A/C for the main living room and loft was not cooling. This is the area that has a large number of windows which raised the temperature considerably making it uncomfortable to use during the day. The thermostat for the master bedroom was also located in the main living room so it tries to overcompensate causing the master bedroom to be very cold unless you leave the bedroom door open, which gives you no privacy. I called the number provided and notified them of the issue and it was never addressed. It would be nice to have the ability to text the host for quicker response because our cell service was spotty.
Our weekend was good overall. We had four couples it total and everyone had their own space, we never felt cramped. One BR is a loft and it was a little odd to not have a traditional room for each couple, but we made it work. The property management company was friendly. The property was quiet... private but close enough to places we visited during our stay.
We cooked our meals at the cabin & this is the area of our review that prevents us from giving five stars...the kitchen. It is in need of some upgrades to say the least. The top oven does not work...does not cook properly. We had to relocate food to the bottom half way through cooking, it was simply NOT baking our food. The dishwasher top rack has a roller missing which made it difficult to load and unload. The toaster is broken ... middle coils do not heat up. The "bread box" cabinet does not open or close without a lot of jiggling to get it moving....resulted in two smashed fingers over the weekend. If you like coffee, consider bringing a maker from home. We tried the one that was left on the counter and it took 30 min.to brew a pot that we had to dump because it was brown water. We tried the second one in the cabinet above the oven...25 min. to brew but slightly better. This issue with the coffee (trying to brew enough for 8 people) became a pain. The men cleaned both machines & they were full of mold and gunk. A lot of utensils and cookware need replaced.
Two of the hot tub jets don't work.
As our family grows, it’s become a tradition to rent a house to celebrate Christmas together. This house was perfect! It was roomy, comfortable and allowed us ample space to be together or enjoy quiet time. This was especially important when it came time to get the grandkids to sleep. I loved the master bedroom! Very beautiful and comfortable and the access to the deck gave my cold loving dog time outside where I could keep an eye on him and stay warm inside. This is the nicest place we’ve rented and other than the drastic weather change, everything went well. I’d be interested in visiting during the warmer months…
