Clean & spacious with a friendly welcome
We were warmly welcomed by Samuel & Laetitia, who gave us a helpful tour of the house, and also around the local village to see shops, park, bus stops & supermarket. Immediate necessities (Tea, coffee, bread, drinks) were thoughtfully provided.
The house itself was clean & spacious, and would have room for several more than our family of four. Everything worked well (apart from the oven), and the new hot tub added an extra touch of luxury. There are some nice views from upstairs over the coast, but house & garden downstairs are enclosed.
Our family find the Reunion mosquitos particularly troublesome. The downstairs bedrooms are all mosquito-netted which helps, but despite this we all suffered with bites. Come prepared with ointments & repellents.
Bus travel from near the house is possible, though not particularly frequent. There is off-road space for a car, which makes transport easier. There is good access to the rivers and canyons used for rafting & watersports, and into Salazie and the Plaine des Palmistes, so good for hiking & adventure sports. The beaches are an hour or so drive away. The East coast is wetter than the West, with an interesting cultural mix, but the towns feel very run down. We enjoyed the vanilla cooperative tour, rafting and swimming in the river basins. The highlight of our trip was seeing the volcano erupting!
We'd recommend the house, and would be happy to return there on our next visit.
