"We stayed for 7 nights for vacation and had a wonderful time. Everything was really good, from the gym/pool team to the restaurant team, which I must say really go out of their way to meet your needs. Small complaint about the bathroom sliding doors which were glass with a thin fabric that was able to see through, friends sharing twin room might just want to take note."
The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta - Handwritten Collection
10/10 Excellent
"I had a wonderful stay at the Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality of the staff. Everyone was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make the stay memorable.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful — a stunning colonial-era building that has been immaculately preserved and maintained. The architecture, elegant details, and timeless atmosphere make it feel like stepping into a different era while still enjoying modern comforts.
A true gem in Yogyakarta, combining history, charm, and exceptional service. I would highly recommend the Phoenix Hotel to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience."
"A truly five-star experience from start to finish. We were welcomed with complimentary drinks upon arrival, which immediately set the tone for our stay. The attention to detail throughout the property was exceptional, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Everyone was friendly, professional, and always willing to help.
The room was excellent, well-appointed, and had all the amenities we needed. For the price, the value was outstanding. We also appreciated the bar area at the front of the hotel, which provides a comfortable gathering space for international travelers while still respecting the local culture.
The location was another highlight. Malioboro Street is just steps away and offers an incredible local experience with plenty of shops, street food vendors, banks, and easy access to public transportation, including the train station. It’s the perfect area for anyone wanting to experience the local culture while remaining conveniently connected.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly give it five stars."
"I thought the value for the Level room was very good, especially the daily laundry perk. What needed improvement was the canapes at the evening social hour. They lacked a balance with some Western food and the funny thing was an intern opened a new bottle of while wine for me (very nice) and served it warm....she just needs some coaching. You do not need to dress to go into the lounge. My spouse loved the unlimited cokes. The breakfast in the lounge is acceptable, just not the hot stations and honestly, I didn't like the eggs downstairs so it was no loss. The staff in the lounge was very attentive but they are NOT knowledgeable about how to check you out and do not speak enough English to communicate. I suggest having us all check out in the lobby as I was worried my credit card company would suspend it's use since she swiped it so many times in an effort to get it to work. The room was pleasant but the grounds are lovely, the restaurants are very good (have the pumpkin soup). Tours for pick ups here were easy as well as taking local t, they knew the Melia. Well done!"
"I booked this stay for my parents and they had a wonderful times. My dad is in wheelchair and my sister forgot to tell the front desk during check in, but was able to get different room with shower access instead of bathtub. That was wonderful that they were able to do that. Overall the staff are always friendly and the hotel is always clean. I would definitely recommend staying here."
"This property was a greay stay with an amazing location near some great resturants and coffee shops. It was only let down by the very loud noise of the air con fan and the wifi cut in and out constantly especially in our room. Overall though it was clean, rooms were nice and the staff were amazing."
"Amazing and friendly staff who are always looking out for you and your wellbeing.
The place was 200m away from the market which has local delicious food. It is also 100m from the Tugu Yogyakarta which has many cafes at the roundabout. It’s also 5min away by car to the Tugu Yogyakarta train station and 5-15min away from malioboro mall.
The swimming pool is a relaxed and conducive place."
