SugarTop Resort - Indoor Pool & Hot Tubs --Money Saver-- Sugar Mountain, NC

SugarTop Resort - centrally located in The High Country is a guard gated community with round-the-clock security, and a 24-hour front desk staff. Resort lobby has a library for reading or games. Resort has a full Pantry in main Lobby and a Café/Pub onsite (seasonal). Indoor Pool, 2 Hot tubs, Sauna, Steam Bath, Fitness Center, Men's and Ladies Locker Rooms with personal showers. Common outside areas include lower level community sundeck, picnic tables and outdoor grills. Google search Sugartop Resort for more Resort information. Our 2BR and 2BA Condo is located Slopeside on the 1st Floor of residential units (fist in, first out!), closest to the elevator, lobby, pool and parking. Unit is a little "dated" and "used" but clean and cozy so enjoy our lower rates. We love our little escape and hope you will too. Fully furnished with linens and bedding included. Open floor plan, w/wood burning fireplace in spacious living room and wet bar. The beautiful scenery is viewable from nearly every room. Master BR has king size bed and Guest BR has a queen bed. There is also a Queen size electric blow-up mattresses if needed. Both bathrooms have showers and tubs. Private outside balcony positioned directly above pool rooftop with a direct view of ski slopes and sunsets. Laundry room w/full size washer and dryer. There are books, board games, DVDs, XBOX 360, dedicated Wi-Fi and cable TV for your enjoyment. Complimentary shuttle service to and from parking lots for all guests. During ski season no need to drive to the ski resort as Ski Sugar offers free shuttle bus service from SugarTop Resort to Sugar Mountain Ski Resort during weekends (peak season) and holidays. Sorry, no pets are permitted due to HOA policy. This is a SMOKE FREE unit. Each condo is individually owned.

Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

***NOTE: Sugar Top Resort condos do not have air conditioning. Average summer temperatures are high 75 and low 55 degrees. During snow and ice it is required to have 4 wheel drive/AWD vehicle or snow tires and chains for access to the Resort.***

Activities include skiing, snow tubing, Wilderness Alpine Mountain Coaster, golfing, biking, swimming, hiking, fishing, wildlife watching, zip-lining, gem mining, rafting or just relaxing in the mountains. Nearby sites include Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Lineville Falls/Caverns, Boone, Blowing Rock, Lees-McRae College and Appalachian State University, Tweetsie Railroad, Overlook Barn, Beech Mountain and the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. The view, cool temps, and beautiful flowers!

Wonderful place to stay in the summer. Flowers are blooming everywhere and the cooler temps are a delight. The kitchen has great tools to cook elaborate meals. We loved our weeks stay!!

Best deal at the resort!

We loved it here! The place was great for a family of 5. The air mattress came in handy. You’re only about a 5 minute drive from the slopes and 8-10 minute drive from downtown banner elk! I highly recommend bellas italian restaurant, tubing and Highland Ski rentals! Micheal was easy to work with and answered all of our questions promptly.

The apartment was just as described and it worked perfect for our family of 4. The view of the slopes is super nice and we didn't have issues with the shuttle at all. It actually was pretty fast to get up or down to the parking lot. The pool, sauna, hot tub were perfect for the after activities to relax and unwind. Perfect ski weekend!!!!

In looking at the internet, the property was supposed to be on the corner of the 9th floor of Sugar Top property! That is why I picked this one, so we would have a fabulous view!! Instead, we were on the 1st floor,, over the pool area, with very little view of the mountains. Very disappointing to us! Hated the room. as it was very outdated! I will probably use aiirB & B in the future and not VRBO! They would not move us to another condo!

Cozy, quiet, nice resting spot from all day hiking

Cozy little place for the two of us to stay while visiting the area for area hiking. Clean unit, accurate description in listing. The building is under renovations so we did come in one day and find the outdoor furniture in the living area which was really no big deal. We also had to keep the doors and windows shut while they were working above us. The staff at the front desk and gate were nice and friendly. We didn’t use the kitchen or the second bedroom/bathroom but everything seemed to appear in good working order. I’m guessing since it was not busy, we were allowed to park at the resort and not in the guest lower lots which was a perk! Would consider staying here again for sure.

Perfect experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The check in process was simple, the only downside being that we arrived late on a Friday along with a handful of other guests, and so there was a good wait before they could allow us to drive up to the condo to unload. This is because there is a very small parking area at the top. But the rest of the weekend went very smoothly and on Sunday night they even let us remain parked at the top so checking out Monday morning was a breeze (because most people left on Sunday). The lobby was extremely inviting with a big fireplace and fall decorations and it smelled wonderful. The staff were friendly. The pool was awesome (and Mike kept us closely informed of work being done on the pool but luckily they reopened it quickly). The pool was wonderful. My kids enjoyed using it while we enjoyed the hot tub. The condo was the perfect size for my family of 5. My 4 and 7 yo shared the queen bed, and the pack n play for the baby fit easily in the master bedroom. Instructions provided warned us that the water heater was good for about two showers so we planned accordingly and never had a problem with the water getting cold. We ended up visiting Linville (caves and falls), Tweetsie Railroad, and hiking Rough Ridge Lookout on the blue ridge parkway. Every activity was perfect for my young kids. We had an amazing weekend!

My review

The condo was very nice. Was stocked very well. Do need a least one sharp knife. Picked a loaf of bread. Without realizing it wasn’t sliced. Only a butter knife. The only negative thing I would say. Is that the pictures that you provided. Never shows that your balcony opens up to a roof. Kind of kills the view.

As always this condo is perfect. The amenities are thoughtful ( hand soap, luggage racks, fans, etc). Already booked for next year. Can’t wait to return!

Disingenuous

I found out the property has no air conditioning by entering the condo when it was 88. Inside. Completely disingenuous right from the outset. Several dozen college age men pushed us out of the pool so we couldn't enjoy it Wednesday. Then, after dinner Thursday about 7pm, we were informed we couldn't park in the empty parking lot beside the building anymore. We left before I got upset and got back around 2am. Thanks for nothing. Terrible place.

Nice place. Location and parking is not ideal

Nice place but you have to use a shuttle to get in and out of the building. The shuttles run very frequently but if you are planning to go back and forth from the mountain more than once it becomes a hassle. If you're planning to leave for the day and not come back until the evening it's great.

No surprises, unit was clean, kitchen had all the essentials and beds were comfortable. We will be back. We came to ski but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate.

Ski trip

We arrived during bad weather so the check in process was a little hectic. We had to park at a lower level lot and be shuttled up to the resort after you unload your luggage. The shuttle service was slow due to the bad weather. But overall the stay was fantastic and the shuttle service was a lot faster the next day.

Good for short, quick ski trip only!

Nice to be on lower level because you can’t bring your equipment inside, no parking close by during holidays. Thankfully we used the stairs because it was so busy. This location would be great outside of the holiday season. We had everything we needed inside to unit. Great communication by owners.
