Pros: Clean 1984 home, comfy beds, baseboard heaters worked well, beautiful view, great location to hiking & downtown BR. Wonderful neighborhood. The kind neighbors alerted us of a 300 lb bear lurking around the house the last night we were there, and we think it tried to get into the trash cage but it couldn’t. Ate at Storie Street Grille - so yummy, and had a relaxing family time overall. Sunsets and sunrises were on fire! Cons: The steps to get downstairs to the two other bedrooms are a little steep, there is a little bit of road noise from Hwy 221, not cold enough to use the wood burning fireplace, and we didn’t actually get to see the bear!
I understand the concept that homes in this altitude range can exist without AC. However, it is the year 2022, and people simply expect to be able to sleep at a comfortable temperature without 80% humidity. You shouldn’t be renting out a property without at least putting in some window units in the bedrooms. This home is very old, and while it looks nice in pictures, almost all of the finishes and bedding are very low quality and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, this is just not a place that you should stay if comfort is even a small priority for you. I’m sure it would be a better winter rental because air-conditioning is not necessary at that time, but even so, the home is simply not very nice. It’s a shame, because it’s in a great location very close to Blowing Rock. We will not be booking with this property or with this property management group ever again.
Our family had a wonderful experience staying at this house for Labor Day weekend. The entire house was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The location was fabulous! We would definitely stay here again!
It was perfect...clean, spacious, great kitchen, comfortable furniture, beautiful decor, comfy bed and wonderful master bathroom I have to give a big thumbs up to the cleaning person...Bethani perhaps? Whoever she was, the whole house was spotless. Very cheerful with a great back porch.
A quiet hideaway nestled in the mountains with awesome views. Great location- Only a couple of miles to downtown Blowing Rock. Great restaurants and cute shops in town. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Comfortable beds and furniture. Amazing master bath. As first time visitors to the area our visit/accommodations were even better than expected!
This was one of the cleanest rentals we have ever been in. Close to Blowing Rock and very convenient to App State which we were visiting for the weekend. Great house to rent with a family.
Relaxing. It was almost 3 miles to Blowing rock and very hard to find at night from the Mt. parkway. I’d suggest giving directions from BR only.
My twin guest bedroom smelled like someone smoked in it. Very Dark!
The kitchen floor was dirty ☹️
Other than that we had a great time.
We were in town for App State’s family weekend. This property is about 15 minutes from campus and 5 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock. Very comfortable house. The only reason I could not rate the property 5 stars is lack of cleanliness. There was a large pile of dirt in the family room when we arrived (I cleaned it up) a can of Pringles under the ottoman (I threw it away), dishwasher was full of dishes (no idea if they were dirty or clean but we hardly used any dishes and hand-washed those we did use. I did run the dishwasher before we left even though none of the dishes were ours), bed and bath linens were not fresh (thank goodness I brought a full can of lysol!) and after only a couple of hours at the property our bare feet were black (presumably due to dirty floors!). We would still consider renting this property as none of the issues we encountered were deal-breakers for us!
We had a great time together reminiscing about our college days. We laughed , shopped, attended a small concert & ate at a cute little place called The Speckled Trout!
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again, the location is great, very close to some restaurants and shops, the playground in Blowing Rock too on the main street was beautiful. The home was overall nice, but I did think the heat was a little iffy, it was pretty chilly during our trip and the heat throughout some of the house didn't seem to work as well as in the living/dining area, but certainly wasn't too cold, just definite difference between the rooms. The kitchen was nice, had the basics that we needed to make some meals. I would suggest perhaps updating to a smart tv, once we were done for the day we wanted to watch a movie as a family and there just wasn't many options via cable, so either a smart tv so we can log into Nextflix/Hulu etc. or the ability to allow us to plug in our own Firestick or something of that nature would be an add.
So first off the property looks as advertised. It was very spacious if you're traveling with a group/family. It was well stocked except for big pots. The scenery is beautiful! The only thing I can say is other than normal wear and tear from the property being rented out we had no issue that couldn't be fixed. Moving forward The property manager should invest on smart tvs in all rooms so there is more to watch, the cable channels are very limited. And the two trash cans outside locked up for bears is great it needs one more cage with another 2 cans. When you are cooking and have children. The 2 cans are simply not enough. We stayed for a week with 6 ppl. And cooked the whole time. We would definitely stay again.
My friends and I stayed in Ansley Heights for a girls weekend. Blowing Rock is one of our favorite places but this is the first time staying in this home. We’re already planning to return next year - it was perfect! Downstairs was a little musty when we got there but that eventually disappeared once the heat had been on a while. The layout of the house was perfect for us, the updates were beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed building a fire each evening. It was too cold to enjoy the deck, but the views were very visible through all of the large picture windows. Kitchen was well stocked and very clean. I don’t have any negatives! With all of the updates made to the rest of the house, the kitchen could use a few new touches but that won’t keep me from renting again. Everything was in good working order and as listed and pictured, except the twin room now has two double beds. Bonus! Can’t wait to return next year.
I rented cabins several times in the area but this place gathers everything, it is comfortable, clean, close to the center of Blowing rock, and also my children played a lot outside with snow and in the morning a deer visited us, it was all super beautiful
We loved our stay in this quaint little neighborhood nestled in the mountain just a few miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock. The home was very cozy and we all had enough space to unwind in the evenings. We had some trouble with the Internet and the lock to get into the property, but the service we received was excellent and both items were quickly remedied. Also, while the linens and surface areas were clean and tidy, the place could use a more extensive dusting, including some webs on the high ceilings in the living space, but nothing that took away from our comfort. Also, while we are on vacation we like to cook and eat in to enjoy each others company so we brought lots of grocery items with us, and we struggled to find space inside the cabinets to stash it all, again, not a big deal but could be organized and some things perhaps removed to allow guests some space for the groceries. Overall, I wanted to say we loved it and would stay here again in the future, and just wanted to provide some feedback to help make some minor tweaks.
This was a tidy house on the side of the mountain with a great view of Grandfather mountain. It worked well for our older parents who stayed with us, as they could park by the door and walk into the top level. The master bedroom was on that top level and was very spatious as was the master bath. Both looked recently redone and the master king bed mattress was so comfy we wanted to check what kind it was to order it for ourselves! The downstairs was also neat and tidy, but did have a slight musty smell to it. The stairs going down there were also very steep and some individual steps themselves were not level. It did not feel safe for elderly parents, but was fine for kids and younger adults. Kitchen was very well-stocked as we had Thanksgiving dinner there. I always wish rentals had adequate olive oil, salt and pepper but it was ok. There was also no laundry detergent and limited toilet paper, which isn't a huge deal, but a pain to have to buy when you are staying a week in a place. It is a short driving distance to Blowing Rock.
We would definitely stay again!

Nicely appointed, clean, quaint cabin to stay in just minutes away from downtown Blowing Rock. Very comfortable accommodations in a wonderful location. Highly recommend this property and look forward to returning myself!
