The Bonsecours Market building proudly stands in Old Montreal and is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable sights in the city. Constructed in 1847 with the help of the city’s trading wealth, the Bonsecours Market was built to show off the city’s prosperity. The building has been preserved and restored to perfection, having once served as Montreal’s City Hall and, originally, as a farmers’ market.

The Bonsecours Market is located on the east side of Old Montreal and is open every day. Look out for the iconic silver dome to help guide you if you are on foot. The most convenient way to get there is via metro or bus, as there is limited parking for vehicles. Entrance to the centre is free, but there may be a fee for some of the galleries.
