About this property
Spectacular views and rural life, yet close to Boise
Custom Lindal home built in 2006, located on 18 pristine acres in the mountain residential community of Wilderness Ranch, just northeast of Boise off of Highway 21 on the way to historic Idaho City. Spectacular views of the entire river valley and unparalleled opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, fox and black bears. A redwood deck running along the entire back of the house offers views of the surrounding wilderness from a variety of vantage points.
Inside enjoy central air conditioning or a wood-burning fireplace (depending on the season, of course!), a 42-inch plasma television with basic DirecTV subscription, a VCR/DVD player, an Alexa smart speaker and a collection of board games. Wireless internet is available.
The kitchen is out-fitted with top-of-the-line GE appliances, including a Monogram double oven, a Profile gas stove and a side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water in the door. It is also fully stocked with all the dishes, flatware, pots, pans, appliances and cooking utensils needed to prepare and serve any meal. A counter-high hard-wood dining table provides seating for up to six.
Sleeping accommodation includes a cathedral ceiling master bedroom with access to the deck and a king-size Simmons ComforPedic bed. The master bath has a soaking bath tub with a large picture window providing a great view of the wilderness as well as a separate large shower made from rock slate. The second bedroom features two high-quality twin beds and a full-size futon bed with ensuite bathroom. The third bedroom doubles as an office, with a twin-size day bed. A light-weight twin-size roll-away bed is also available, allowing a total of seven to be accommodated comfortably.
Wilderness Ranch has privately maintained dirt roads and the road leading to the house is narrow and steep in some places. While a two-wheel drive vehicle is fine for accessing the house most of the year, you must have a four-wheel drive vehicle with studded snow tires and/or chains during the months when there is likely to be significant snow on the mountain (November through March). There can be significant climatic differences between Boise and Wilderness Ranch. Even when there is no snow on the ground in Boise, the roads at the ranch can be snow covered and icy. Also during periods of heavy rain (spring and fall), the roads can become muddy and difficult to transverse. No refunds will be given for poor road conditions or inclement weather.
Beware that cellphone coverage at the ranch is spotty or not available at all. However the house does have a landline phone.
Please note the map may show Bogus Basin ski area as close-by, but those roads are not open in winter. To get to Bogus Basin, you need to drive into Boise and then back out. Trip takes about 90 minutes.
Final note: Pets and domestic animals of any kind are not allowed anywhere on the property, inside or outside the house. Violation of this rule will subject you to immediate removal, forfeiture of your security deposit and additional charges.

Beautiful area. Super close to home. So we were able to come escape and return to the hustle and bustle quickly as well. The wildlife, last day we were there a few baby elk were grazing right off the back deck.
Great getaway spot. Really nice home that was the best stocked VRBO that we’ve ever stayed in. Awesome view. Saw lots of wildlife driving in and out and within 100 yards of home. Highly recommend if you want a great getaway spot.
The road up to the home was a bit tricky, but the views made it very much worthwhile! So peaceful and relaxing. We saw so many beautiful birds, elk and deer right on property. The property managers went above and beyond. Kitchen and outdoor grill amenities made it easy to fix family meals at the house.
This property is has beautiful views. We enjoyed watching the elk feed on the hillside in the evening feeding. Had an enjoyable stay and will defiantly stay again.
The wife and I had an amazing anniversary at this property. Amazing view, very clean well furnished house. Roads getting to the house are a little sketchy. Most Husbands will find it fun while the wives suck the seat up their butts. Overall an amazing place with great property managers!
What a beautiful view! The mountains, snow, and local wildlife were amazing. Clean, cozy, and comfortable stay. Well equipped kitchen and luxurious master bath. Inviting from start to finish with friendly and helpful communications from Alejandro and Alesia. (Do be prepared in winter months with 4 wheel drive and chains.) Highly recommend!
Home is exactly as pictured. It was an adventure getting up the hill but well worth it once we stepped into the front door. First words out of our mouths was "WOW". It had the best views and the home had everything we needed. We had a great time.
The house was just as it was described. The location was really magical with the Green Valley below, and the dark night sky lit up with stars. The area was alive with wildlife. We saw several turkey, elk, mule deer, whistle pigs, and so many birds. The communication with the managers was easy and it was a perfect homebase while we went out and explored towns around Boise and enjoyed one day of fly fishing on the Owyhee River. The house was clean and the kitchen was stocked with all the cooking equipment and even spices. We had no trouble with the Wi-Fi or the TV. And the deck overlooking the valley below was just amazing.
This home was so beautiful and not to mention the beautiful views . Hands down this weekend was the best vacation ever. We got to see mountains, rivers, wildlife up close and they even pose for pictures. The skies were gorgeous threw out the entire day . From sunrise coffee on the balcony, to shooting stars over the mountain tops . If we could give a higher rating for this place 100/100 easy !
Stayed 10 nights and had a Great Time this house is the best we have ever stayed at. Had everything we needed. the view is GREAT and it was hard to just not sit and look at the view of the valley with visits from Elk, Deer, Turkey and numerous birds. Be sure to get you phone maps loaded before heading up or down as there is no cell service. Recommend 4x4 or AWD for road in case of rain, snow etc.
The moment we opened the door, we were elated to see such a beautiful place to stay in with gorgeous views. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing! We enjoyed seeing the gang of elk and the gaggle of turkeys that visited us each morning and evening as well as greeting us on the road up the mountain.
The hosts have provided everything you need for cooking at home with a variety of extras, and the home was very clean throughout.
We slept soundly in the comfortable bed and had a great time exploring the area.
The management team was very helpful and friendly and made themselves available to us if we had any questions.
We will definitely be back!
This trip was planned for rest and relaxation. Perfect score! The views are amazing. The home was laid out so you can see the hills/mountains from every room. We didn’t turn on the TV once. Books, games, reading- thats it. We brought binoculars hoping to see some wildlife. Nice relaxing getaway!
A day at the springs and night on top of the world!
We went to celebrate a friends birthday at the Springs in Idaho City, so I decided to see what vacation rentals were available in the area. We looked at a few but then found this gem! Based on the online pictures and its geographic location, I knew that it would be a unique experience. However, the pictures could not do it justice! Absolutely magnificent view and location. And what’s better is that the house itself was very clean, beautiful, and very well cared for. You can tell that the home owner’s deeply care about their home, and the experience renters are going to have. Very clean, very nice, and just all around amazing. Also communication with the owners was fantastic. If I had a question about anything they were very quick to respond and accommodate. I highly recommend this property and we definitely plan to return. Thank you very much!
This property is awesome! The house is very clean, and the views are stunning. We saw elk, mule deer, turkey, and various bird species. The property has a big kitchen and a gas and charcoal grill for outdoor cooking. The entire Boise area is very safe and clean, and a wonderful place to visit. There are plenty of things to do within an hour drive of this property; however, we spent a lot of time at the property on the large porch looking at the scenery. Having an AWD or 4x4 is probably a better option to drive to the house once entering at the bottom of the mountain. I have no complaints about this place, it is beautiful.
Booked this place for a base camp for a motorcycle trip. The group fizzled out so I was able to have the entire home to myself. Let’s start with the road… it’s steep and curvy and all dirt. Not recommended for motorcycles but my rental was an adventure bike so it was doable. The awesome part was the destination. The views from the living area and deck are amazing. The kitchen is huge and well equipped. I ended up spending more time just relaxing than I did riding. The master bath/shower is amazing too. Easily sleeps 5 comfortably and still be able to have privacy. Would love to be here during the winter as long as I don’t have to drive that road. Check out the hot springs just up the hwy near Idaho city,
If you are one that likes nature then this is your escape. The pictures really do not portray the reality of what your eyes see. The drive from Boise was very picturesque. Creeks and mountains lining the highway. The drive up the mountainside to the house gives you great views. We saw deer, wild turkey and elk on the way up and down the mountainside. But the views from the deck of the house are just awe inspiring. My wife and I caught ourselves just staring in all directions on the deck or from inside. We did visit during a snowstorm which made it even more amazing. What you see looks like something you would see on Instagram Reels.
They do have a small room where you could office if needed. Has high end appliances with a large kitchen island. The bath tub looks out to the mountains. And being one of the last houses at the top of the mountain you will definitely have your peace and quiet.
We will be making plans to go back in warm weather to compare the seasons.
We have stayed at this property in Idaho, five times, and love it each and every time. The view of the elk, the turkey, the quail makes for a wonderful getaway. It’s quiet and peaceful and that night you can see an amazing amount of stars.
