"I had high hopes for this place, especially after seeing it featured on Motel Rescue, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The room itself was clean, which I appreciated, but there was a noticeable mildew/musty odor that made it uncomfortable to spend much time inside. The riverfront setting is beautiful and has a lot of potential, but the grounds need significant upkeep. There were cobwebs throughout, and many of the outdoor furnishings looked either unsafe or unused for quite some time—I didn’t feel comfortable sitting on them. One of the more confusing aspects of our stay was the lack of a proper check-in process. There was no office, and the only person initially available to help us was a contractor who had just demolished the office building. He eventually flagged down some staff members driving by in a golf cart, and they checked us in that way. This situation could have been much smoother with clear communication ahead of arrival. Our room did include a small deck, which was a nice feature and offered a bit of relief from the indoor smell. However, it also had cobwebs and signs of neglect, which made it hard to fully enjoy. While it technically overlooked the river, the view was quite limited. The highlight of our stay was dinner nearby at Suwannee Belle Landing—I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. Overall, with better maintenance and clearer communication, this property could be a much more enjoyable place to stay."

"I enjoyed my stay at this cabin. It is simple but has everything you need, and was *very* clean. I especially enjoyed the partially covered back deck which was great for lounging on the rainy days during my stay. Be aware there is currently no WiFi, which was not a problem for me."

"Hideaway Cottage is a gem located on a scenic stretch of the Santa Fe River. Mike and Laura are very attentive to detail and offer a wonderful chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of Florida. If you enjoy fishing, wildlife, scenery, and peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The cottage is spotless and full of charm, with a comfortable bed and a wonderful shower. Be sure to float down the Ichetucknee Springs River through the State Park — it’s breathtaking and only minutes away from the cottage. Try the Farm Stand (also just minutes away) for some great Mexican food. My wife and I feel lucky to have experienced our stay at Hideaway Cottage and are truly grateful for it. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you, Mike and Laura, for being such wonderful hosts!"

"What a great spot. The river is beautiful and right there. Centrally located to High Springs and ichetucknee springs. Owner is very accommodating and house is well stocked with toys. Will be going back. "

"The only good thing about this property is the access to the river. As soon as you open the door to residents you get a good smell of mold. The only thing clean were the bed sheets. Frig was not wiped out. I had to clean before putting my groceries in. Rotting wood on deck & dock. Old dishwasher on deck all smelly. Spider webs in window, on deck & in parking area. Coffee pot broken. Had to buy one at Dollar store. I have pictures if needed. Yard not taken care of. Weeds, poison ivy everywhere. "

"The house was beautiful and so was the scenery. It being right next to a river was the highlight of it all. It was well furnished, supplied us with basic necessities and everything was overall clean. I loved that they provided us with fire wood for the fire pit and games to play together. 10/10!!!"
