The hotel is a loverly building. The food is average at best. The restaurant bar on the corner of the hotel is poor. The staff make you feel like a problem. The staff in the hotel never smile and never do anything unlesd you ask.
The spa suite is nice. The bed comfortable and warm. The spa is old.
To be fair it is not expensive but it is not 4 star
The Carrington is a one-of-a-kind hotel steeped in history and modernized to work well.

Tremendous historic atmosphere, beautiful antique furnishings in the common access rooms, stained glass in the corridors and lots of framed Norman Lindsay drawings on the walls.

A grand olde hotel, exactly what we were looking for. Lots of character and charm. 12 foot ceilings and original wood work with modern comforts.
The Carrington is a lovely old hotel where you step back in history. Much of it seems little changed since it was built!! It has plenty old world charm, remarkable that it has survived as a hotel all this time. Even though it is a bit tatty around the edges.
Conveniently located in the centre of Katoomba.
Convenient parking in a secure garage.
Ambience Ambience Ambience. Please keep the old world character of this hotel. It was a real joy to discover the TV behind closed cabinet doors where it stayed. It's location at the top of Katoomba is perfect and adds to its charm and amenity.
2 day stay, food was good breakfast fair variety of continental but would have to pay for Al A Carte.jacuzzi bath was wonderful. Limited availability of alcohol at the bar. No where in Australia or New Zealand have slimline tonic water! Minimal variety of gins or glass bowl vessels.
Loved the character of the hotel

Disappointing
Checked in at the Carrington Hotel Katoomba. There is a writers festival on and they have taken over the Hotel (Dining Hall and it would appear orher rooms). Our room has a view of a carpark (think we are in the overflow section). Very disappointed that we were not advised of the restrictions that are in place during the writers festival, would have booked somewhere else if we had known.
A beautiful old hotel in a breathtaking location. Every detail was superb. The staff and service was exceptional.
The included continental breakfast was much more than I expected and filled our tummies before a day of exploring.
Super soft bedding and very spacious rooms.

The Carrington is conveniently located in the centre of Katoomba & makes it easy to access the main shopping area. However, the hotel is past its glory days and is tired & in need of a refresh. The bed was overly soft & the chairs were uncomfortable. Disappointing experience overall.

Old world style however furnishings were marked/damaged and outlook presentation was mediocre. Continental breakfast very average. Coffee was offered in a thermos.Only one cheese selection & one meat. No fish.
Beautiful character hotel full of history and atmosphere. Excellent location (only a minutes walk to train station and on Main Street with cafes and shops). Stayed in middle of winter and room was spacious and toasty warm. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back to stay!
I always stay at the Carrington when in Katoomba, so much history, rooms are comfortable & Champagne Charlie’s is a great place to enjoy a red wine in front of the fireplace. My only criticism is that you can’t get anything to eat after 4.30pm and the Grand Dining Restaurant is closed Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.
The hotel is beautiful, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Our room was beautiful and very clean. I could not fault our experience. It definitely exceeded our expectations.

We have stayed a few Times and are Loyal customers The external areas and front roof areas need maintenance attention
Beautiful, majestic, historical hotel. Great position, easy walk from the train and public transport. Please note the Bamboo Box restaurant across the road has the best Chinese food we've ever had. Lovely, relaxing place to stay.
