The Lodge was spectacular and the staff friendly, professional, and helpful. Within hours of arrival, they knew our names. The room was large, private, clean and very comfortable with a large deck overlooking the rainforest, a huge bathroom and our own private hot tub. We did many activities through the lodge (hiking, yoga, night walk, bird watching tour) and the guides were excellent. The food was delicious and very fresh. Each dish was beautifully plated and generous. 5 stars!

Die Origins Lodge wird als Luxus-Lodge beworben, entsprach diesem Anspruch jedoch in keiner Weise. Das Zimmer war stark feucht, mit deutlicher Schimmelbildung in Zimmer und Bad. Die Fenster ließen sich nicht schließen, zudem gab es keine Klimaanlage oder Heizmöglichkeit, sodass die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit nicht reduziert werden konnte. Bettwäsche und Handtücher waren feucht; nach einem Austausch der Bettwäsche zeigte sich eine stark verschmutzte Matratze, was hygienisch nicht akzeptabel ist. Der Toilettensitz war alt und defekt. Die Zimmertür schloss nicht richtig, das Moskitonetz war funktionslos, und Rauch von offenem Feuer zog in das Zimmer. Zusätzlich wurden Tiere wie Skorpione und Schlangen in der Anlage gesichtet, was ein erhebliches Sicherheitsrisiko darstellt. Auch die Organisation wich von der Beschreibung ab: Die Rezeption ist nicht 24 Stunden besetzt, nachts ist kein reguläres Personal vor Ort. Insgesamt besteht eine deutliche Diskrepanz zwischen der Darstellung auf der Website und der tatsächlichen Situation vor Ort. Der Aufenthalt entsprach weder dem beworbenen Standard noch den Erwartungen an eine Unterkunft dieser Preisklasse.

My overall review of Origins Lodge is 3/5. The price is too expensive for what it’s worth. I was charged $15 for papaya juice and the hotel doesn’t offer an A La Carte Menú. Very few limited options for lunch and dinner and that’s why my wife and I decided to eat in Bijagua, a town nearby where they offer local food. Looking at the bright side, the room and bathroom was impecable and clean. There are a few things that could improve such as replacing the walkie-talkies with real telephones. It made it really hard to communicate with lobby and restaurant. Also, the hot water runs out too quickly. The hotel depends heavily on solar panels and the outdoor fireplace to keep the jacuzzi warm. The outdoor activities were were not advertised as we thought as it was going to be. Apparently you can do all the activities in a span of 2 hours with the same tour guide. The staff are somewhat well trained and need to work on their communication skills or at least show that they like to work there. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be far away from the city and enjoy the rainforest filled with fauna and flora no other place can offer. I would definitely come back again. We did the horseback ride activity, went fishing, did the trail, and did a deep tissue massage which was wonderful.
