My boyfriend and I came to Big Bear for a quick getaway trip for a few days. This place was literally the most perfect place we could've chosen. All I really wanted was a fireplace and a hot tub, and this was above and beyond. Honestly i thought the place was going to be pretty small, but the pictures don't do it justice! It's actually a huge studio, with lots of nice little features, like a heating light in the bathroom, fireplace timer, fast heater, etc. I could go on and on. We absolutely loved it and our vacation was incredible. Huge props to the staff, especially Amanda who helped me check in. Everything is pretty close by, and our first night it snowed a bit and we were worried about a snow storm. We were able to find dining easily and the next couple days we drove back and forth to shop and eat and come back and relax. Awesome place, thank you so much!!!

This cottage is great for a couples getaway massive bath tub for two and it also has a dual shower heads if baths are not your forte, overall extremely pleasant.

Our room was clean and very comfortable. We had all the necessary amenities like coffee maker, dishes, blow dryer, etc. the jacuzzi tub was awesome and the jets were strong. The heater and fireplace worked great! The bed was too hard for our liking and hurt my back, but I would still come back. Check in and check out was easy. I loved that Circle K was across the street and the cottages were close to everything like Snow Summit, the Village, and lots of restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay at Cathy's Cottages; it was everything we wanted. The king-size bed and jacuzzi tub were perfect for our stay as a couple. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi and cell service were excellent as well.

Loved the location. The cabin was warm. The floor in the living area and bathroom was was dirty and the shower tile/grout and bathroom ceiling had mold.

Fantastic Cottage
Tonya was amazing. The first cottage that I had was horrible nothing worked and when I told Tonya she immediately changed my cottage and it was absolutely perfect! It was amazing and I will be back.

Uncomfortable bed, noisy heater, fireplace did not work. There was a person above us in the cabin, something we did not expect, that was walking a lot on the squeaky floor in the evening, at night and early morning. We had to use earplugs to be able to sleep.

Very cozy cabin. Had everything you could need. Fireplace, microwave, refrigerator , coffee pot and dishes for 2. Ceiling fan, a must for me, and a cooler. Central location to everything in Big Bear.

Very nice cottage, big, with a nice fireplace and Jacuzzi. Excellent location. The only problems were the bed and couch, which were not very comfortable. Both seemed old and tired. And the TV remote did not work properly, the volume and mute buttons did not work, no matter what options we tried.

Very run down. Bad insect infestation. Window blinds had huge broken sections. So easy to replace. Makes you feel unsafe. Very dirty. No room door sweeps. Mice can enter at will . Very unsanitary. Very large hole in shower wall. Pretty gross. Very nice person behind the text messages that are used to communicate and check in, but it’s a slum.

An old and cold cabin
The location was different than advertised online and I did not find out until after booking the reservation. The property advertises wifi, but there was none. The host reports that "its a big bear thing", while the rest of the town had wifi working just fine, sounds like a Cathy's Cottages thing. I was not able to get the work done that I had planned to complete. The fireplace and furnace were not warm (ancient), I woke up many times freezing the first night while wearing sweat pants and puffy jacket. There were no extra blankets or sheets available, I had to buy a blanket for the second night. There was an advertised "hot tub jacuzzi", there was none in the room. Overall, not the experince I hoped for considering I was paying premium prices for this location. I attempted to express these concerns to the host/manager before writing this review, but was not given their time to do so. I will not be back to this location and I do not recommend it.

We rented the place for two nights. The first night we were up all night due to the old heater noise. We couldn’t turn it off it was too cold and while it was on it had loud annoying sound. We contacted the manager he said that it’s an old heater and we should have expected it. We left after the first night staying and they charged us for both nights. I’ll never stay there again. I don’t recommend this place at all.

The customer service was truly excellent. I really appreciated how wonderful and friendly they were. The problem with the room was that there were ants near the coffee maker and sink. The fire was on a timer, but when it timed out, there was still gas leaking with one blue flame visible at all times which made me feel unsafe to fall asleep. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and there were no blinds in the room to block out the morning sun, which means my son woke up at 6 AM.

We did not like that the blinds in the bathroom, kitchen, and the living space near the jacuzzi had huge gaps enabling any passerby to look into our rooms and see us. I had to use our bath towels and dish towels to cover the windows. The shear curtains could allow anybody to see through. The top of the front door has a see through window in the door, again allowing anybody to peep into our room. I did not feel safe, especially for my wife. The shower had an uncovered work area not yet finished. It was a beautiful place, but I think more needs to be put in place to make it a safe place. Maybe the home keeping and maintenance workers have the holes to get free shows of the tenants using the jacuzzi, shower, and bed.

I did not like the check in for the place. First- I did not like having to send an electronic copy of my license. I have concerns about security and fraud. Second-In the original listing , the check in time was 4pm. The day I am going to be arriving the check in time changed to 5 pm. The code to open the door was suppose to be sent (texted) to me shortly after 5 pm. I was outside the cottages at 5 pm waiting to receive the code. At 5:30 pm, I still did not received the code. I called the number that I had earlier texted the license copy- there was no voicemail, so I had to text. After several phone calls, a finally got a live person. Finally 5:50 pm, I received the code. Third - the hot water in the shower was terrible. I turned on the hot water with knob open fully, waited for the water get warm, went into the shower, opened the cold water slowly and the water immediately turned ice cold. I had to reduce the cold faucet to almost tickle to have a shower and the water temperature kept changing between warm and cold. The showerhead had very low flow(maybe the head needs cleaning). The towels were not as clean as they should be. The room was clean and spacious, fullsize bed with 2 Murphy bed, and a love seat, table and 2 chairs, a mini-fridge, and microwave. The floors are cold, bring slippers in the winter. There is no carpeting or rugs in the whole unit.

I liked how close it was to the little shops, and dinning. We were there for 4 days and we weren't left with enough coffee, cream or sugar. Staff was not on-site to ask for extras. There was a gas station conveniently across the street, but it would have been nice to be provided with enough to make it through our stay.
