About this property
Porch & Peak | 5BR Village Farmhouse in the White Mountains
Summary:
Come for the White Mountains. Stay in the village.
Porch & Peak is a five-bedroom 1930s Craftsman farmhouse tucked on a quiet side street just a five-minute walk from Bethlehem’s Main Street. Designed for families and groups, the house pairs a big wraparound porch and plenty of room to gather with vintage New Hampshire maps, ski history, mountain art and relaxed modern furnishings.
Hike, ski and explore by day. Walk to dinner, drinks or ice cream when you get home.
The Space:
Porch & Peak was made for gathering.
At the center of the house is a huge eight-foot dining table with room for the whole crew, alongside a well-equipped kitchen with a six-burner gas range, open shelving and plenty of place settings for big family dinners.
Five bedrooms give everyone room to spread out, each with its own simple White Mountains identity: Pine, Ski, Mountain, Wildlife and Lumberjack. Fresh 300-thread-count sateen sheets, contemporary duvets and two pillows per guest make for a comfortable landing after a day outside. Bedrooms include closets and dressers, with chairs in several rooms and a separate workspace.
Throughout the house you'll find a mix of vintage New Hampshire maps, early ski memorabilia, mountain artwork, books and clean modern furnishings—a little history without feeling like you're staying in a museum.
There are plenty of places to be together and places to disappear for a while, including the living spaces and enclosed porch. Families with younger children will also find the practical dining and household basics that make traveling with kids easier.
Arrival is simple with keyless entry, and the house includes fast Wi-Fi, a smart TV and straightforward controls. Settle in, unpack and make it yours for the weekend—or the week.
Guest Access:
The wraparound front porch is one of our favorite parts of the house—have your morning coffee outside, settle in with a book, eat together al fresco or simply watch the light change through the trees.
Outside you'll also have a grassy yard with room for lawn games, swings for the kids, a fire pit, small gardens and seasonal blueberries.
Best of all, once you arrive, you can leave the car behind.
Porch & Peak sits on a quiet residential side street, about a five-minute walk from Bethlehem's Main Street. Wander down for coffee, dinner, drinks, ice cream, shops, live entertainment and movies at the historic theater. Around town you'll also find golf, walking trails and family recreation, with seasonal options including swimming, tennis, basketball, skating and snowmobiling.
You get the pleasure of staying in a real White Mountains village—and a peaceful place to come home to at the end of the day.
The Neighborhood:
Bethlehem makes a central home base for exploring the White Mountains.
Spend your days hiking, skiing, cycling, fishing, snowmobiling or simply driving some of New Hampshire's most beautiful mountain roads. Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch, Bretton Woods and the Mt. Washington area are all within easy reach, and I-93 makes getting around straightforward.
When you want a little more civilization, nearby Littleton offers excellent restaurants, breweries, shops and everyday essentials including supermarkets and pharmacies.
We'll also share a guide to some of our favorite hikes, swimming spots, restaurants, shops and adventures around the region.
The advantage of staying here is simple: you don't have to choose between a mountain getaway and being part of a town. Spend the day exploring the White Mountains, then come home, park the car and walk into the village.
Getting Around:
While you can access an awesome number of vacation amenities on foot once you're here, you'll probably need a car to get here... and out to some of the other great attractions within 30 minutes.
Other Things to Note:
-The "Pine" Bedroom can be made up as two twins or a king. Unless you request otherwise, you'll get it as a king. (But don't worry if you forget-- the twin beddings will still be there for you!)
-Speaking of neighbors, we have some strict policies regarding disturbing our year-round neighbors. If you think that will be a problem for your group… well, it’ll probably be a problem.
-New Hampshire Meals & Rental Tax License #062540
-Smoke Fine of up to $500.
-The house does not have Air Conditioning, but does have ceiling fans in the common space and bedrooms (plus supplemental box fans). The mountain climate is not often warm enough to need these.
-Thermostat maximum is 72 degrees. A wood stove and space-heaters are provided for supplemental heat.
