Berlin Christmas break
Great place to stay as it was very central and close main rail and u bahn lines. Also along main shopping precincts. Also my request for Gluten free products for my wife was met.

Great value short break homebase.
This was the first time stopping in this hotel and there was some trepidation due to a couple of negative reviews. We need not have worried. The hotel is excellently situated and surrounded by many amenities and transport links. It is a short walk to the bustling Ku'damm shopping area, Zoo and major transit terminal. The staff were very welcoming and always accommodating, and multilingual. The initial impression was of a small narrow building, but it is spacious and very easy to navigate. Cleaning was carried out regularly, both inside and outside the rooms. The rooms were basic but pleasant with excellent facilities. Irons and boards are available on request. There is a tv, safe and plenty of power points. The aircon is very good and was definitely needed during our stay as the temps hit 36°. The bathroom was furnished with a toilet, bidet, wash basin, bath with an integrated shower, and was again very spacious. Next to reception they lay on water with fruit and mint for guests, and there is an enclosed seating area with cover for anyone that smokes. On the first floor there is a 24hr vending machine supplying snacks, soft drinks and some alcoholic selections. All in all, this was a very good hotel and I believe would suit anyone on a short break to this beautiful city as long as you are not deluded to think that the Savoy in London is the benchmark. This hotel is not worth the price. Rooms doors don’t close properly which question the security. There is an awful odour in the building. Not recommend at all

Not bad but not great
More of a 3 star than 4 star. No free bottled water in hotel or any extras I would expect. Also Wi-fi was very bad in the room. It was ok and staff were good but would not stay there again as Im sure I could get better for the money.

Great rooms, clean and spacious, excellent location. The only problem is the internet, it does not work at all. These days hotels need to understand that providing a good internet is as important as warm water or heating in the winter.

Comfortable bed, large room with fridge, excellent breakfast buffet, with many more choices than most and a great location on the Ku'Damm at Uhlandstrasse. Plus a Haagen-Daz on the premises. Attractive, modernized bathroom, too!

The location is great but the property is 100 years old and desperately needs renovating. Breakfast room staff was courteous but the rest seemed still poorly trained. Overall it is a low level hotel. They should remove the "4 Stars" from their logo.

Walls extremely thin with dirty shoe marks and you hear every noise from neighboring rooms. Some crazy people kept turning the water on and off in their bathrooms every 30 seconds or so during the night. The night receptionist was passive and refused to help when I complained. The next day at check-out the rude clerk said if I was unhappy I should email the management. No manager was ever around or available while we were there. I've stayed at several much better hotels in this price range in Berlin in the recent past. Do not waste your money here.

Location was great. Staff at reception seemed cold and almost rude, allowing you to stand in front of them for ages before deciding to acknowledge your presence and help. Also attempted to charge me on check out for a breakfast that was neither requested or taken.

Cetral four stars hotel in Berlin
Hotel California is a central four star hotel on one of the main streets in Berlin. It is very close to the underground and bus stations and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Customers demanding the highest standards may miss the A/C during the summer, the coffee maker and refrigerator in the room and the ice in the hallway. Service is great and available around the clock.
