About this property

New! Historic Bend Cottage | Walk to Breweries & Drake Park

  • Step into a piece of Bend history at the Hawthorne House — a beautifully renovated 1930s cottage with a modern twist, tucked into the heart of downtown Bend just two blocks from shops, breweries, restaurants, and Drake Park. Built in 1930 and home to local Bend families for over 57 years, this 732 sq. ft. cottage later became the legendary graphic design studio of "Design of the Times" by Ed Carson, creator of the iconic Deschutes Brewery artwork and the Cascade Cycling Classic branding and artwork. Several of Ed's original pieces hang proudly throughout the home, giving guests a truly one-of-a-kind connection to Bend's creative heritage.

The charm and history don't stop at the front door — stroll to Drake Park and the Deschutes River, grab a craft beer at one of Bend's legendary breweries, bike to Phil's Trailhead for world-class singletrack, or drive up to Mt. Bachelor for a powder day. Bend's best is right outside your door.

Easy Bend Getaway

My husband and I were able to book a last minute Bend getaway and stayed in this home for 3 nights. It was absolutely PERFECT. The size was great for us (and we believe we could have easily fit our two young children), it was very clean, and the location was unbeatable to walk to everything from downtown Bend to spots like Crux.

The location was fantastic and the place was very comfortable. The host provided coffee and a bottle of wine for us, which was very nice.

House is very convenient for downtown adventures. The bathroom is the real only downside. Small and bathtub shower is awkward at best.

Comfortable Stay - Thank you!

The home is older and although on the small side, it was easy to navigate throughout the house and the accommodations were thoughtful. Might suggest more USB ability in the bedrooms.

Location for the win

The house is small, but didn’t feel cramped for a family of four. The location is great for walkability to many of Bends restaurants and breweries. The only downside was there isn’t any quality outdoor space at the house itself. Communication with the management company was smooth.

Great for 2!!

This little house was perfect for me and my adult son. It is a tiny house, but worked great for us. We had our own separate spaces, kitchen was big and definitely used the washer/dryer. The location is funky because it is exposed and right in the middle of a business district. Hard to find for delivery ppl. Otherwise, you can walk to a lot of places in town and a short drive to Old Mill district.

Meh

First and foremost the location is great. Really short walk to everywhere in downtown. The house is small but the kitchen is good size and the 2 bedrooms are nice. On the down side the bathroom is tiny. The shower curtain hits you if you are using the toilet. The shower /bathtub was dirty when we arrived. It also didn’t drain so we had to go to the store to get drain cleaner or stand in 2-3 inches of dirty water. My wife had to clean the bathtub and use the plunger on the shower just to get the water to drain. We had the same problem with the sink. The photos are extremely deceptive. The nice fence masks the concrete parking spots right next to the patio which really isn’t a patio at all. Just enough room to open the front door. I asked about a fenced area for dogs and was told they have one. However, they didn’t stay it was a 3 x 8 concrete slabs wedged between the kitchen and the garage with as bbq taking up 1/2 the space. Also worth noting that the entire house is surrounded by concrete parking lots. This house has literally no outdoor space other than 2 parking spots.
