Jennifer and Nigel are absolutely the best bed and breakfast hosts in the industry! They are organized, kind, gracious and a lot of fun! Our delicious hot breakfasts both mornings were the perfect start to our days exploring Death Valley National Park. If you are visiting the Beatty, NV area we highly recommend staying at the Shady Lady.

A unique place to stay. Eclectic antique furnishings were fun. We enjoyed soaking in our private heart-shaped hot tub. The host suggested stargazing out behind the property, and the stars were great. Great collection of books in the parlor and dining room. Peacocks wandering about are fun. Our host was warm and friendly, the breakfast was large and tasty, and we enjoyed talking to other guests. I guess technically it is in Beatty, but it is about 30 minutes north of the town center.

Shady lady is a hidden gem for those looking for a place with character and soul and great hospitality and quaint rooms. It’s a breath of fresh air from the usual sterile motel 6 experience. If you like animals, there are cats and dogs and peacocks, yes peacocks! And not too far from death Valley.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of days during our trip to Death Valley National Park and I have to say it was such a wonderful unique experience! We stayed in their cabin and it was perfect. Very private with our own deck area with pool and our own fire pit with these spectacular peacocks everywhere and views!! Couldn’t believe it. They were so tame and beautiful. I actually fed one with my own hands. They come and visit you every morning to say “Good morning” The best part was our hosts, Jennifer and Nigel. They are the kindest, sweetest people ever. The breakfast was great! Jennifer was kind enough to make sure my frenchie had some breakfast too! She cooked him eggs and bacon and sausage the days we were there treating us like family! Thank you. We had a fantastic time.

Absolutely awesome experience! We were greeted warmly by the owner when we arrived. The B&B is neat and lovely. We watched the sunrise outside of the house and enjoyed a hearty breakfast. The stay was a sprinkle to our already amazing trip to the Death Valley!

It was one of the best stay I ever had! I was lucky to stay at Thanksgiving, so it was my first proper American dinner table settled by hosts. Felt so much cozy and warm being around other travelers sharing their stories and experiences while enjoying delicious home made food! For breakfast they also make home made food and serve it as Michelin restaurant! Area doesn’t have a lot of lights or they can switch them off, so you could enjoy stargazing while having your tea:) No doubts would recommend and if ever have occasion would stay again!

The entire experience was both outstanding and unique!!! Owners are friendly, welcoming and helpful (but not intrusive!) They showed us the best place to sit and gaze at night stars, and introduced us to dogs, a goat and a bevy of peacocks over breakfast coffee. The breakfast was hot and specially made for us. It is a strong memory in an incredible vacation!!! We thank them again.

This is not a conventional hotel and you need to be prepared for that. The property is basically a giant house with a dozen extra bedrooms in the one wing, and detached buildings providing even more sleeping space. This experience is far closer to staying with friends than a hotel. Beds were clean, building and surrounding farm are beautiful, they have a cat and a thousand peacocks. Very fun place to stay, nice people.

What a wonderful surprise. This place was amazing. The host couple were the nicest, friendliest, and helpful caretakers i have ever met. I loved the history of the place. Will stay again if ever out there again.
