"I have rented a number of houses through VRBO. The Petite Maison is by far the best. It was in perfect condition when we arrived. Located in the beautiful village of Beynac -et-Cazenac on the Dordogne River it felt like we had gone back in time. A very friendly village, we felt welcome everywhere we went - restaurants, the Pharmacy, the local market. Plus, there are many wonderful day trips just short drives away. I hope to be back again one day."

"The house is absolutely stunning full of antiques in keeping with the medieval era. The view through the window over the river was magnificent. All the beds had comfortable mattresses and pillows, and it was very dark and quiet and we slept well. The size of the house was perfect for our family of five. The kitchen had very good for facilities for cooking. You do need to be quite fit to stay at Mont Joie as it is at the top of the hill that you need to walk up and within the house itself, there are two long flights of stairs. "

A few small quibbles, none dispositive: the master bedroom bed won't agree with side sleepers and needs replacing, The poolhouse bed was represented by the delightful husband wife cleaning team as nonfunctional.The poolside stationary bike is conceptually sound but the device's maintenance has been sadly neglected and would be cyclists straddling the weather beaten wobbly seat precariously situated above an unstable and poorly designed plinth can anticipate perineal trauma.Now, if any of this discourages a stay here, I have served you poorly.Since most reviewers are not as persnickety as I am any unhappiness in an otherwise glowing review can be seen as a rule out. Glowing reviews have self-censured and so the eye is gouged and fantasy skewered by reports of imperfection. "Everything was just right, with an easy checking in process, help on hand if we needed it. The kitchen was very well equipped and the laundry facilities were particularly useful. The pool was enjoyed by everyone. This was a memorable time in a special place with our children and grandchildren. Our thanks to our hosts for providing such a wonderful venue."

"We booked Chez Suzy for a family reunion, and it was perfect. 7 berooms, most ensuite. Facilities were great too with a lovely pool and gardens. Nice bbq area with a choice of either charcoal or gas. We dined outside as we barbecued most nights with the seating area more than adequate for our number. Most of the family drove from the UK, Germany and Gibraltar and more than enough room for the 3 cars.We highly recommend and hopefully we can visit again.Evelyne proved a lovely host and was always available if needed.
