Get a great night sleep in one of the 3 uniquely designed bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen bed & 2 double beds) all with comfortable luxurious linens provided. The king bedded room is upstairs and the queen & double bedded rooms are located on the main floor.
The Shack is equipped with 2 full modern bathrooms, one on each floor, stocked with ample fresh towels, hairdryers, shampoo, & body wash. There are additional towels available for hot tub use as well.
Cuddle up on the oversized sofa next to the gas fireplace in the living room. Enjoy listening to vinyl records or watching a movie with a glass of local wine or a cup of hot cocoa. The Shack is a dog-friendly short term rental with a dedicated built in dog house to make any pup feel like a VIP.
The open concept kitchen is the crowned jewel of The Shack. This fully equipped and spacious kitchen boasts modern appliances, cookware, and utensils, Keurig coffee maker (K-cup & pot), as well as a variety of spices. For those cheese enthusiasts, fondue pots are also available-- one electric, one requires sterno (sterno not provided). The adjoining dining area includes a table for 6 to enjoy a great meal or gather around to play one of the many board games. Don't forget to look up to check out the custom designed hickory branch chandelier!
Enjoy the multiple private outdoor spaces including expansive deck with dining and lounge areas. The separate platform with built in hot tub is ideal for soaking and stargazing after a long day of hiking. A gas BBQ grill is also available as well a relaxing fire pit area perfect for making s'mores and sharing campfire stories.
While it is great to unplug, it is also possible to stay connected at The Shack. Reliable high-speed wifi is available as well a Roku TV with guest mode functionality to automatically log you out of streaming services at the end of your stay. For those looking for more of an analog stay there are plenty of board games, puzzles and books to choose from.
If you are looking for local activities a day trip might look like exploring Luray Caverns, float the Shenandoah River, and stop at Muse Vineyards on your way home to catch the sunset with a glass of local wine.
Another popular activity is a visit to Shenandoah National Park, located about 50-60 minutes from The Shack. This park is know for it's spectacular views, cascading waterfalls, fields of wildflowers and quiet wooded hollows. If you enjoy a scenic drive then you will certainly agree that Skyline Drive lives up to its name. This park provides view upon view without having to get out of the car---though we recommend doing so. What's more, this park has 11 dog friendly trails for your and your best friend to explore!
