About this property
Relaxing home with an unsettling river bank.
UPDATE: Please see picture of recent riverbank changes. River access has become difficult & limited due to a recent windstorm that removed a healthy amount of land along the river. Access off back deck is not recommended. Feel free to inquire.
River's Edge radiates a cabin feel, yet has all the necessities of home. Rustic decor including clocks, radios & snow gear reminds you that time almost stands still here, but AppleTV and HomePods remind you to stay in the present. The river, just off the deck, drowns out any distractions from your relaxation.
Neighborhood: This is a quiet neighborhood w/ very only a few houses. Outside the neighborhood is where all the magic happens. Check the Guidebook below for Must See, Do & Eat's. If you get rained out, chill my homey brethren. River's Edge has your back with that 24/7 lazy-day-feels setup. Translation: It's Comfortable AF. Der Baring Store is a walk down the road & Index General Store is a short drive for most necessities. Gold Bar and Skykomish are each about 10 min away with more food options. Close proximity to Stevens Pass for skiing, mt biking, hiking, getting more food, or just hanging out, people watching.
Amenities: Wi-Fi Apple TV with Netflix Gaming units Kitchen with all the tools need to make a Thanksgiving dinner. Pantry has basic items. Fishing in the river, off the back of the property, BYO Gear. Stevens Pass Ski resort within 25 minutes. Hiking and backpacking trails in every direction.
House Rules: No smoking indoors Check-in is anytime after 4PM Check out by 11AM Self check-in with smart lock If you want to have a SMALL outdoor fire in the pit, plan on bringing wood. There is not a supply at the house. Do not pull wood from nearby properties.
The space: The "neighborhood" has very low traffic and property is mostly very-private. Access to the river allows for fishing and splashing around during certain times of the year.
Guest access: You can take a stroll through the quiet neighborhood surrounded by forest and wetlands. Or you can meander down to the river and have your go at skipping rocks or pulling a steelhead out with a rod. Sheds and small cabin are currently off limits. For safety sake and to prevent from further erosion, the river should not be accessed from directly in front of house.
Interaction with guests: I will be a phone call, text or email away. I know what it's like to be bothered on a vacation and I know what it's like to need something in a pinch. I will be available when you need to help alleviate all stresses you came here to avoid.
You must also acknowledge: Must climb stairs - Three stairs on the porch and deck, 15 stairs to the loft/master bedroom Potential for noise - Trains. All day about one every two hours. Maybe one at night. It's pretty faint and wakes light sleepers. Bring ear plugs if you need. Amenity limitations - You're in the mountains with variable weather. This area is prone to power outages. Gas fire & BBQ provide heat & food when power is out. SURVEILLANCE devices on property - Ring camera to monitor driveway/porch for guest count and departure time. There is no hot tub :(

The house is lovely, well-stocked, very easy to find, and the location is absolutely gorgeous. Brendan was super responsive throughout the entire booking process and the stay. Highly recommend!
This cabin is great and very well stocked. The view off the deck is amazing. The host contacted us rite away when the power went out for a very short period of time to make sure all was well. I really appreciated that. Thank you for a great place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay. Everything was perfect for my family. House is very comfortable and very clean. Owner is very prompt with communication and description and are super nice folks. We appreciate the hospitality and will be booking again. Thank you so much
Lovely spot. Quiet and relaxing. Clean and cozy cabin. Brendan (host) very responsive and helpful. We had sun, rain, sleet and snow! Amazing to watch the changes over the mountains . The small towns surrounding the area, trails, eateries make this a perfect get away location.
There was a group of six of us. The cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. The trail down to the river was the main highlight for us. Great swimming hole and beautiful views. Just watch out for the slippery clay deposit upstream! We hope to return to this cabin in the future.
Cabin is personal, warm and cozy—everything you’d want for a mountain stay. We had 2 couples and a child, plus 3 more extended family visiting on and off. Plenty of room for everyone with an extremely spacious upper loft master suite/bath, 2 downstairs bedrooms and large dining table and bar counter seating. Kitchen was well stocked including a crockpot, and we welcomed in the New Year with a hardy meal of beans and greens (as close as we could get to Black-Eyed peas) But by far the most impressive feature was the back deck right on the edge of the river. Wow. Mesmerizing. We even sat out by the fire pit in 30 degree dripping weather, listening to the river. A very special place which we hope to visit again soon.
Absolutely the VRBO you are looking for! Classic, clean, and incredibly comfortable. Cabin is perfectly furnished and equipment, probably the best I’ve rented thus far!
Check in is super simple and host was easy to reach even though we didn’t need him!
Location is just about in the middle of anywhere you’d like to go. Excellent coffee is just a few miles away, with an amazing view!
Let’s not forget the friggin’ view!! Had eagle and duck visitors. Took my work meeting outside with the river behind me and made everyone super jealous!
Go ahead and rent away!! You’ll love it…plus I can’t be the only one that scoured the property for a trash bin! You’re gonna crack up when you find it!!
We stayed at this property to attend our sons wedding. The house was clean and comfortable with all the amenities one could ask for in the mountains away from a town where you have everything at your fingertips. It was wonderful to “unplug”. My only comment is I chose the house so my husband could “walk out the door and fish” and unfortunately at this property, that would never be possible as the bank to the river is unstable and too high to be able to fish from the bank. The water flowing was a most relaxing sound and though fishing was not an option, the house provided everything else we could have wanted! Thank you to the howler for sharing this beautiful home!
A really remarkable property. Perhaps the most amazing feature is spending time on the deck with the view of the river with absolutely no sign of man-made civilization in view at all. It's beautiful and peaceful and a true 'get away'. The cabin is great and well suited to families, or two / maybe three couples. The upstairs area is not closed off, so perhaps the early risers or the heavy sleepers should be upstairs. This was a great spot to do day hikes nearby and would be fantastic for skiers. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was soft. The kitchen is well equipped for putting meals together. We stayed there right after a heavy rain and flash flood warnings--the river was running fast but the cabin is quite a bit above the water so there was nothing concerning. The sound of the river was delightful. The path down to the water is a little steep for people with mobility issues. We'd happily return! Would love to see it in the snow.

So so stay
My friends and I had a good time together during our stay but several things about the cabin were very disappointing. No running water when we arrived...had to have instructions on how to turn it on. The water stopped working the second day we were there....but came on after a while. Touchy fireplace controls, the switch to shut off the ceiling fan didnt work. The owner was very accessible but he couldnt help with some of the problems. It was still a relaxing place to stay with the sounds of the river and we spent lots of time together, which was the main point. Overall, wouldnt go back to this particular rental.
Cabin and Property were picture perfect! Cabin was clean and cozy our windows stayed open the entire time! Listening to the river was heaven! Thank you Brendan for sharing your wonderful place!
