Amazing staff. Main guy was AWESOME. He spoke English. Set me up with all the activities, and knew what was good and what was not. There were 2 girls that worked as volunteers for we work that were just as cool and spoke English as well.
My one complaint was my room had no hot water..... I left the water on for 5 minutes. It only got colder.... I needed that shower too...
The locals like to party... all night long... my gosh. Makes it harder to sleep.
The individuals who ran the Erupción Art Hotel were great! They were very helpful with information we needed to get around. The Hotel is also in an excellent location so it was quite easy to go to the places we were visiting on foot or by bus. The bus terminal is also within walking distance of the Hotel. One nice perk, was that they offered bottled water and hot tea.
We did feel, though, that the bedroom and bathroom were a bit run down and did not seem to be so clean. The room we stayed in was noisy because it faced the street. We also had to ask for the hot water; shower was good once the hot water came on.
Great receptionist with loads of information about nearby activities. Booked 2 beds in a 6 bed dorm. Apart from the the two men who snored, one getting in at 6:30am from work in guessing, it was great. Food service is really slow FYI if you have activities planned.

The location of the hostel is perfect - right in the centre and everything can be reached by foot within few minutes. The hostel staff was amazingly nice and very very helpful!!! They do everything possible for you and it is very uncomplicated. Really great!
What I did not very like was that the bathroom was obviously not clean. There have been some left overs from soaps that are already dry and further places that are not very clean (I am generally really not picky!!) - so the cleaning was not really done very good.
Moreover, I missed the common area to meet people.

Great location with very helpful, friendly staff.
Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Booked two excellent trips for us.Room was smallish but comfortable bed and was very clean. On the top floor with a view over the square. Close to restaurants and attractions, with just a 5 minute walk from the bus station. Read comments regarding noise but didn't find this a problem.Great value for money and would highly recomend.
Really cute and quaint hotel in a perfect location
We had a wonderful stay at Erupcion! We stayed in one of their private rooms with private bath. The room was very spacious and the bathroom very clean. Also, the beds are extremely comfortable and quite warm (it was pretty chilly during our stay in Baños, so this was much appreciated). The common area/restaurant was so cute and they serve really delicious food! This was a great place to hang out and meet other travelers and locals as well as they come there to eat too! However, the absolute best part of our stay was the staff! It is primarily family run and they are so friendly! The owner, Henry speaks perfect English as well and is extremely helpful in coordinating activities. He is well connected in the town and will arrange anything you wish! It was just a wonderful stay overall!

Nice hostel
Helpful staff, nice patio overlooking the park. This is a hostel - not a hotel.
Hotel Erupcion is a hostel, so don't be expecting more than that, but the staff, especially Enrique, were incredibly helpful when it came to giving us recommendations and helping to set up tours. The location is right in the center of Banos and therefore perfectly situated for getting you where you need to be.

Depends on your neighbors
For $20 a night, you can't complain too much, but this place is pretty noisy, mostly because of the door types (because of the door type) and drunk people in their rooms at night.
We were given an interior facing room whose bathroom window was open another's, thereby hearing ech other's, uh noises. The rooms facing the park at least had some natural light, so request one of these as they're a bit nicer.
On the plus side, staff were super friendly, and it's a nice place to meet other travelers. Breakfast is big, and the restaurant is worth visiting. Tours can be bought through the hostel as well.
The place was nice and clean, the location was very central. The staff was very helpful in arranging the activities we wanted to do and our transportation. I highly recommend this place.

Good people, price... needs more
The people there were really nice, the breakfast was good, location excellent, and TV works all for a really good price.
The bathroom had mold in it though (lacking proper ventilation). It was cleaned, but not with a mold killing cleaner for apparently quite some time. You can smell and see it. I also had problems with hot water for the shower. I think hot or at least warm water was available, but pretty hard to get it working.
They have filtered water downstairs in the restaurant, but none in the rooms for drinking.
While I was there the internet wasn't working, and they gave us the password for a tour company across the street a few floors down that didn't work in the hotel.
Basically, for one night and $28 it was worth the stay in a private room for 2 people just one night.
I booked online ahead but pictures were better than the real thing. Our room had 2 windows into the hall of the hostal. One was opaque with no curtain and hall light kept us awake. It was near the internet station and people were on the computers talking late. We left 2 nights earlier than we booked for and got a sweet place for only $18 more per night. The staff were nice and it has a nice cafe. But they serve instant coffee with breakfast. I would recommend not booking ahead and find a place once you get there. There are so many choices that we did not see online that are reasonable and very nice. We paid $38 nightly at Mariane's and was much happier.
I stayed at the Erupcion during a trip to Tungurahua Volcano. I was very pleased with the location of the hotel, very close to the bus station and the bar district, which is open late every night and is a great place to hangout and get late night food and drinks. The hotel is very comfortable, features a nice large and comfortable bed and a nice-sized shower and bathroom. Breakfast was good, that was the only meal I had at the hotel though. Though in a busy area, there wasn't as much noise as one would expect. Again, you are in walking distance to many great things, including tour guides which can take you to the volcano, the Cascadas, and much more. The only problem I had was that I had many bugs on my ceiling, likely from the window being left open before I got there. This is kind of to be expected in places with no air conditioning though. The staff was very nice and helpful in helping me get set up with a trip up the volcano. I would come back when I return to Banos, which I plan to in the future.
