"Absolutely beautiful apartment. Great location across the street from the river for a nice stroll on the path by the river. It’s stocked with every possible amenity — even an espresso machine and ice maker. The kitchen is well stocked. The host is exceptionally responsive to any questions that may arise. Check in/out process was seamless. I would highly recommend for a 5-star experience."

"The place looked quite ominous and derelict with poor signage. There were signs asking for car parking payment, although parking costs were included in the accommodation package. Reception staff did nothing to help clarify this, indeed adding to this confusion for a short while. The accommodation was not as described. Which is really my main gripe. I have nothing against under-par, or budget accommodation, but it helps forward planning, to get what is expected from a description. In our...

"Compact apartment with everything needed for a short stay. Hot water is good & hot. Good Fish and Chip shop around the corner (had the Haddock with chips and curry which was delicious and a good portion size) and a sandwich bar that serves breakfast items too (bacon butties recommended). Really good bakers across the road with numerous choices. Close to Montrose town centre and beach and on the way in from Dundee and the North. Benefit of Netflix on site and free WiFi. Accommodation is 3A which...

"When you flush the toilet in bathroom it makes a horrible loud noise. Info on apartment states it has washer and dryer - it does not. It has a washer and a hanging rack. There was still food in fridge and cabinets, was only given 2 towels for 4 people. Beds are close to floor and are horrible. No roller paper in one of the bathrooms. I truly wanted to walk out. "

"My parents and I had a lovely stay at this property for my summer graduation. The view of the river was beautiful and the flat was very tidy and spacious. It was really handy to have one bedroom with an ensuite. Thank you to Junaid for leaving complementary cleaning/food products for us to use during our stay. I would recommend Ferryhills Riverside Retreat"

"The owner was VERY attentive, from parking to grocery shopping to restaurants for breakfast or dinner. Even gave us a scenic route to drive to Inverness that we enjoyed."

"Our host let us down and didn’t give us check in information so we couldn’t t get in and had to book a hotel. He phoned eventually and said he was too far away. Should be struck off and we expect a full refund."

"Very spacious room and cleaned to very good standard. Getting hot water could be temperamental due to old plumbing. Shower over bath and bath was very deep so if I went again I would ask for a walk in shower as being in my mid 70s I was not confident getting in and out of bath. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and food was very good. Good choice at breakfast but could be better choice of bread."
"A lovely hotel in a beautiful area along the River Dee. Attention to detail in the hotel and room were great. A very comfortable bed and a good size bathroom with lovely toiletries.
The food for dinner and breakfast was great quality and great service. Staff were all great. i'd definately stay here again."
"The room was nice and clean and bright with a great view of the train station. And the hotel was attached to the train station and Union Square which was very helpful when I arrived by train at 10:00 at night. I did have trouble finding the street entrance since I arrived so late at night - the main entrance is through the mall. The hotel is modern and much newer than most buildings in the area. It can't get any closer to the train station and bus station, and the shopping mall is a bonus."
"Charming and unique historic hotel. Its an older hotel that’s beautifully furnished. Lots of windows, comfy chairs, a nice bar and dining room. It’s right off a main road and close to the Airport, so it’s very accessible."
"⭐⭐⭐⭐ A lovely stay in a beautiful historic house
Ardoe House is a grand and impressive building, with beautiful panelled walls and plenty of character. The staff were excellent throughout our stay—friendly, welcoming and attentive.
Our Classic Room was spacious and comfortable, with an excellent shower in the bathroom. There were also plenty of plug sockets in convenient locations around the bedroom, which was a nice practical touch.
The dining room is very well presented and provides a lovely setting for dinner. The lamb main course was absolutely stunning and definitely the highlight of the meal. We did, however, feel that the starters and desserts were somewhat overpriced for what was served.
Outside, the grounds are mainly laid to lawn with mature trees, providing a pleasant setting around the house.
The location is also very convenient, being only around 15 minutes from Aberdeen city centre while still offering the feel of a country house retreat.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful historic property, with great staff, comfortable rooms and an excellent main course. A solid 4-star experience as advertised."
"Room was comfortable and the bedding and the towels were fresh. We had to move rooms late on a our first night due to a leak in the ceiling in the bathroom but the staff quickly resolved the issue and were really helpful and apologetic, in both rooms the carpets were really stained and in need of a deep clean. The reception area and restaurant are are lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is in an ideal location."
"The check-in process was disappointing because I had to ask about nearly everything. The listing stated that a parking tag would be provided if parking was included, but none was given. When I asked, I was told that parking required an additional fee, which was then added to our room.
The pool also costs extra, and unfortunately, it was not worth it. We went to use the hot tub but were told we couldn’t use it because the bubbles weren’t running. The staff member who told us was not friendly or helpful. My husband and son then attempted to swim, but two lanes were reserved for lap swimming and the remaining area was being used for swim lessons. My mother-in-law, who was fully dressed and not swimming, was even told she couldn’t use her phone to take a picture.
The pool hours are also very limited, especially for families. If you are checking in and want your children to swim, you’ll need to go almost immediately. Needless to say, we left after about five minutes and felt like we had completely wasted our money."
