There were lots of ants in the room on the floor on the bed everywhere and they keep coming. The staff tried to clean it twice but after some time the ants keep coming, we had booked 2 rooms but ended up staying in one room. They didn't had any other twin room available. We had booked 4 nights but spent only 2 nights there. We raised it with expedia and the property agreed to return the 2 nights money

Property was generally good and the pool and staff were great but traffic noise was very loud most of the night. Also no restaurant as advertised. Quite a long walking distance from anywhere to eat.

Do Not Stay Here, it's not in a state for people to stay, it needs a lot of work. There's no shuttle bus service, no spa or fitness centre, no bar or restaurant, the rooms are ran down, so is the property. Our Family of 4 stayed here in July 2023

THE WORST HOTEL I’VE EVER STAYED AT. Dirty does not even describe it. Stained sheets, dirt on the floor, spider nets, ant everywhere and filled with humidity. We complained to the reception, they took us to another room which was a little bit better but still bad and has stained sheets, etc …. We put the towels on the beds and slept. NIGHTMARE. On top of that, when checking out from this horrible hotel, receptionist tried taking another 100 K more. Sleep in the street.. it is cleaner

from parking to the hotel had to climb a fair number of steps some of which were slippery. very serene and quiet place suitable to meditate and blend in with the nature especially the local fauna and flora. Great Balinese managers are there only to try to please you

Relaxing retreat
The resort was an amazing place for a couple to take some down time and relax. The staff service was very friendly and helped us with any enquiries that we had. The massage facilities were relaxing and at a reasonable price. Breakfast was fast and really enjoyable. Overall, an amazing place to stay if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of central Ubud and into the Real bali.

A quiet relaxing stay in stunning tropical gardens
It was a pleasant stay and I would recommend to others. However our stay was spoiled somewhat by a mix up in the booking of a tour. I booked to do the mountain walk up the volcano at dawn and was waiting at 2.30am for the pick up. I waited until 4am and was not picked up. The tour company said they arrived at 2.30am to collect me yet I did not see or hear them. Hotel staff told me to wait in the lobby however the bus driver did not meet me in the lobby. I think this was a language mix up about where to wait so double check arrangements if you book a tour with staff at Alam Sari. I recommend book your tours in Ubud. I was annoyed that Alam Sari reception staff appeared unconcerned that I had waited for an hour and a half from 2.30am to 4am and did not get to do the walk up the mountain. The staff took no responsibility for this mix up and made no attempt to offer compensation. If Alam Sari is going to offer to book tours they need to ensure guests are provided with accurate information. This was a major disappointment at the end of my holiday which upset me.

Nice break, away from heat and bustle
This hotel is nestled in Keliki village, away from the main centre of Ubud. The hotel offers free shuttle buses to Ubud and you can also ask their drivers to pick you up and take you places in your own time. Transfers from the airport to Alam Sari were also very easy, when booked directly with the hotel. The pool was fantastic and the complimentary half day village tour, with Putu, was definitely a highlight. You got to walk along rice fields, meet locals and see the organic garden that is part of the hotel. Food was authentic balinese and amazing!! The accommodation was comfortable and clean, although suffering a little from wet weather. My kids loved the 4 poster bed with mosquito net :)

Five-night stay - wonderful staff wonderful hotel
Rooms are huge - really really big with gigantic bathrooms and bathtubs, massive beds, slightly older but for the outstanding prices available, they were a great deal. The hotel staff were outstanding, very friendly and always attentive. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

A beautiful and peaceful resort. This was the first hotel I stayed at in Bali and it is still one of my favorites. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. A very relaxing atmosphere. Absolutely loved the outdoor bathroom with the garden. It is a little far from the centre of Ubud, but the hotel has a shuttle and also offers tours. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful oasis in the hills
Just fantastic! A lush garden in the hills. Seemed very environmentally aware and socially conscious. The village / rice field / art school tour was a highlight and easy way to access everyday Bali village and rural life. Meals were superb, service gentle and personable. Well away from the bustle of the towns. Ideal for quiet (although there is traffic noise) and calm. Not for excitement, party animals or shopping fiends. Family room perfect for parents and two children, and the three bedroom villa looked amazing.

A lovely romantic get away. I went with 4 teenagers using the hotel as a base for activities. I would have loved more time there to see the arts the area has to offer, wood work, painting, etc and Tegallang is a great base for that.

Beautiful hotel in the hills above Ubud.
We booked to stay 3 nights but extended our stay to 6 nights because of the airport closure due to volcanic ash from Mt Rinjani. The staff could have not been more helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful. We loved the room, leasing by the pool, eating in the restaurant and doing various tours that the hotel helped to organise. I recommend the village too. We also enjoyed walking from the hotel into Ubud. The food and drink selection in the restaurant was excellent and vey reasonably priced. Overall we loved Alum Sari and will return.

Thankful for this little gem in Bali.
Coming to Alam Sari for the 10 year, it really is like coming home with friends. Food is excellent and all the staff is very friendly and will do whatever it takes to make yor vacations a memorable time. Free shuttle bus to Ubud, knowledeable guides, excellent activities, great little spa, free village tour, all vegetables and fruits come from their organic gardens... What more can anybody ask for? We will continue to stay at Alam Sari when visiting Bali.

Great Experience
We loved our stay here. Staff are all really friendly and helpful and are all from the local village. The rooms are spacious and clean, pool is great, food is really good and reasonably priced. Free shuttle transport to Ubud. The resort is 20 years old and a bit weathered but that just added to the charm for us.

Great staff, great food, great place...
My partner and I stayed for 5 nights and had a great time. The bed was comfy and the air con was awesome. The staff speak English well and helped us organise a driver, my partner even got chatting with one of the staff and went to some Silat training. The food is fresh and tasty (they get their veges from their own organic garden), they also have western options on the menu. We stayed in 3 different places on our trip to Bali and this was by far the best.

Great choice
I was looking for something that would fit my budget and expectations. Apparently, it was a great choice. This hotel has everything that one may need to get away from crazy and busy life in the city. Everything was extremely great - our room, the restaurant, breakfast, all services, location. The location is great - it is a little away from busy Ubud but still within close proximity. The hotel provides with free shuttle at specific times or can provide taxi anytime you need it. The staff was incredibly friendly, caring and welcoming. The food was great - I fell in love with local butter, believe it or not! I would highly recommend it for everyone. I had zero complaints and would stay there again.

Lush greenery and beautiful community
What's fabulous is: 1) the surrounding, jungle feel and traditional village community (which actually leads to the mediocre rating for neighbourhood because mom doesn't like jungle and an ant bit her) but my sister loves it!!! 2) keliki art is fabulous and literally right opposite the hotel 3) village tour through the paddy fields is absolutely eye opening

Excellent little retreat in the hills
Great small hotel and restaurant surrounded by hills and rice terraces. Perfectly blended into its surroundings. Not many rooms, so never a crowded atmosphere. Foods is great and all from the organic gardens and the village behind the hotel which you discover about on the complimentary village tour. This was my second time here and I will definitely be returning!

North of Ubud
This hotel has a beautiful view and a wonderful staff! It has a true Bali feel so it should not be compared to an expensive resort. We enjoyed the organic food, lush setting and nice pool. Although it is set up and off the road and is very peaceful, it helps to bring ear plugs for sleeping or at dawn the sound of geckos, roosters and scooters may seem quite loud.

Awesome Village and Cooking class
Hotel, was nice, simple rooms, lots of bugs but hey thats indonesia, the pool was lovely, but the staff were fantastic, especially Dewa the Driver/ Gardner who took us on a village tour and garden tour, this was the highlight of our whole trip. We then also did the cooking class from the hotel in Keliki which was again an exceptional experience, We learnt and experienced more of Bali in those two experiences than in our whole holiday and the one before. Staying here is worth it just for those tour excursions

Awesome value for the price I paid
I loved my big room with double sided verandah access, awesome big bathroom and bathtub which was beautiful to relax in and listen to the pouring rain as it landed on the roof. Beautiful staff and gardens. The hotel is a bit older than pictures give impression but for the price I paid it was amazing value. Only disappointment is that the food was not as healthy as I expected going by the website, after the raw food restaurants/cafes of Ubud but that was just my expectation. Staff were beautiful and very helpful. The 90 minute massage special was DIVINE and very professional... definitely endulge in that!

Peaceful and friendly
We stayed as a family and particularly appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the opportunity to learn more about Balinese culture. All the kids (aged 6 - 13) enjoyed the village tour. The hotel is further from Ubud than we'd realised, but this was not a problem as we had time to explore Ubud and also relax by the pool. We had some excellent meals in the restaurant.

Felt a bit like camping
I think that the hotel website needs updating. I felt mislead on the amenities, room layout (especially bathroom), and parts of the property. Room: The roof was open and geckos/(HUGE) spiders, and tons of ants were everywhere. We paid for the deluxe room, so we got the bigger bathroom, but didnt use it. Again, its outside with mesh wire covering openings, but were broken, so there were tons of bugs in the bathroom, and it always smelt damp. As a matter of fact, the whole room had a smell to it (almost a bit like sewage at times). Property: The staff does a great job keeping up with the property with the tools that they have. Its unfortunate that the website alludes to a rice terrace on the hillside, however it is over grown and seems to have been for quite some time. Food: I had read mixed reviews on the food, but my husband and I had no complaints. The complimentary breakfast was great too. Staff: The staff is fantastic. They are so helpful, and attentive. I would say that we felt jipped on the spa services. we paid for an hour, and my massage lasted 45 minutes, and my husband as well, on top of the woman leaving him to just lay there for an addition 10 minutes in the middle of it. Cultural aspect: VERY cool to see the village tour! The cooking class was awesome too! we learned so much about traditional Balinese villages, and culture. It was amazing an amazing experience. Over all, I wouldn't recommend this hotel based on the expectations regarding the property that we had going into it. However, The cultural experience that we had because we stayed there was amazing. If you wouldn't mind the things I pointed out above, then yes, go for it!

Nice hotel but too noisy...
The rooms are a kind of private bungalow and furnished to a reasonably good standard with nice dark solid wood furniture. The bathroom to the rear has an open wall to the outside which made showering in the morning feel like you were outside in the jungle! It was actually very nice and appointed with fairly modern fixtures and fittings. Some reviewers have said how the hotel is tranquil, peaceful and relaxing. We booked the hotel as we wanted to find a quiet place to do meditation and get away from the hustle and bustle of life in the towns. Sadly this was just not to be. Alam Sari is positioned next to a very busy road, the noise from which is quite simply deafening. Motorbike after lorry after car after truck would roar past continuously throughout the day creating a terrible droning background din. Now I am aware that this is not the hotel's fault and there is very little they can do but I feel obliged to point out this unfortunate fact so that other travellers can have a true idea of what staying at this hotel is like. The point is that we chose this hotel over similar ones in Ubud because we wanted peace and tranquility. Sadly on this point, Alam Sari failed to deliver, although this was not through any fault of their own.
