An unforgettable experience as beautiful birds and butterflies fly all around you in this wonderful park.

Set within a 2.2-hectare botanical garden that features more than 2,000 tropical plants, the Bali Bird Park is not only sanctuary to nearly 1,000 birds, it’s also home to a dazzling array of butterflies. A series of large aviaries that aim to replicate the natural habitat of the birds allows you to wander among the wild life and offers the opportunity to see one of the world’s rarest birds the white Bali Starling. Up to 250 different species are arranged into different regions. The South American aviary is home to the scarlet macaw, toucan and the famous Congo grey parrot. In the Sumatran section, you’ll find Javan hawks, cassowaries and the magnificent snake eating serpent eagles. A lake area is home to majestic cranes, storks and pelicans. The park is also home to one of the world’s largest collections of birds of paradise. In the wild, these birds are normally only found in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and small areas of Australia. If you are lucky, you may even spot a very different but equally spectacular creature, the fearsome Komodo dragon! There is a series of research and breeding programmes hosted by the park, the results of which can be seen in the bird nursery. A firm favourite with children and adults alike, the observatory windows allow you to look in on baby birds in incubators starting to move and stretch their wings for the very first time. If you’re looking for a bite to eat during your visit, there is a restaurant that opens out onto the tropical gardens, offering stunning views. There is of course a host of photo opportunities and you should allow at least 2 hours to look around. The park is wheelchair and baby stroller accessible and there is also a gift shop. Entry is free to children under 2 years of age.

Bali Bird Park is open daily except Nyepi Day - Hindu New Year, which falls in March. It is situated in Singapuda north east of Denpasar between Kuta and Ubud and can be reached by local buses and taxis or alternatively, you could hire a local driver.
