Mercure City Groningen Martiniplaza Hotel

"The people working there are friendly and helpful. We were a bit late for breakfast and the lady working there very kindly made up some food for us. The breakfast is good and varied. It's a bit off the beaten track being a 25 or so minute walk to the centre although there is a bus nearby that runs to town every 20 minutes. We had a very enjoyable stay."

"Room was a reasonable size, but as others have said, the bathroom is small, so could be difficult for a larger person. Our air-conditioner was playing up a bit, the Reception had someone look at it and it worked OK after that. Only paid for breakfast one day. It was OK, but the only hot options were scrambled egg and bacon. Overall a pleasant stay in a lovely town, being an ideal base to go to the Assen MotoGP."

"I stumbled upon this place on Expedia while playing a high-stakes game of "where am I driving next in the Netherlands," and it turned out to be the ultimate win. Hands down the best hotel of my trip so far! The place was so clean I’m pretty sure you could eat your breakfast off the floor (though I used the table like a civilized human). The absolute highlight? Watching the Dutch squad take on Japan in the World Cup right there in the hotel, cheering alongside the locals. The room itself was immaculate and the bed was dangerously comfortable. A massive shoutout to the rockstar at the front desk—she was incredibly sweet when I arrived, and somehow just as impossibly chipper and helpful when I checked out the next morning. 10/10, would absolutely stay again!"
