Annual Door County Trip 2023

It was clean and comfy and quiet and relaxing. The only issue was that the lightpole on the property was not working so it was very dark at night.

Mini honeymoon in beautiful door county

A country farmhouse experience, grounds and building were clean - aside from some typical farm flys. Very nice central location in door county made getting to everything a blast and loved how dog friendly the very responsive hosts were. Only note - no AC but we new that going in

Quiet Country Escape

The photos of this place don’t do it justice! If you are looking for a spacious, peaceful country retreat a little off the beaten path, this is for you! The home was charming and we appreciated learning about the history of the farm. We live in a farmhouse, so we are used to the character of homes of this age (I believe the floors on the second floor are original -very cool). The home was very clean and there is a lot of outdoor space, including a fire pit and grill. We plan to stay again next year. Thank you!

Very nice farmhouse

We really enjoyed our time at the farmhouse. The property was nice and clean. You could tell it was an older home as they are just by nature a bit tougher to keep every nook and cranny clean but it was more than livable. The story of the farmhouse was very cool and the grounds outside were perfect for our little ones to run and play. The bonfire pit was wonderful as was the screened in porch. The bedrooms were cute and clean as well. It wasn’t hot when we stayed so the lack of AC wasn’t an issue. Only things that would be great to add would be darkening shades for the bedrooms as some of the windows have nothing on them which makes for some very early mornings, especially with little ones. And it would have been helpful to have hand soap in each of the bathrooms as we had to go out and buy some. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay and our family had a very fun time! Thanks again for everything!

Friends getaway

Long time friends together for a getaway to your old farm retreat. We enjoyed the charm of the old farmhouse. We thought the location was central to the various Door county attractions. We enjoyed all the birds and saw some deer. All in all we enjoyed a relaxing weekend.

Lovely location and space!

Fabulous location for easy access to boat launches and other areas in the peninsula for Fourth of July festivities. Quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of towns, but were able to see fireworks from the patio! Great weather our whole trip - a bit on the warm side luckily there were fans as there is no a.c. Loved that there was laundry on site and the hosts were quick with any responses needed! Hope to make this an annual adventure!!

Quiet Country Getaway

This older farmhouse has been renovated inside and has plenty of room for a group of 8, if people are willing to share beds. The surrounding property is fairly well maintained, and provides a nice country view. We were able to gather in the evenings for cards and prepare meals in the large kitchen. With a group of 8, getting ready in the mornings might be a challenge with (2) small bathrooms. but we never ran out of hot water and were able to get it done. Overall was a good experience.

Overall we had a wonderful stay. The home was big enough for a family of 6. The home was in the quiet countryside as promised and there was no light pollution at night, making for nice evenings viewing the stars. The screened in porch was a highlight. There was no AC, but box fans were provided which were sufficient for a weekend in the high 70s. There are tons of windows to let fresh air in and there was always a good breeze. The home also had everything that we needed, and the host was very responsive to questions leading up to our stay. We did find the home to be in need of extra cleaning when we arrived. There were a significant amount of cobwebs, dead bugs, and live spiders and flys and ants in the house when we got there. Some of this could of course be expected, being in the country on a farm in a house that isn’t occupied 100% of the time, but I was really surprised to see the amount of cobwebs with dead bugs in the corners in multiple rooms and in the window sills. They had clearly been there a long time. And the box fans were very dusty and dirty as well. We did let the host know so this could be addressed for future stays. Everything else about the home including the linens and dishes, counters, and bathroom surfaces were absolutely clean.

Worst Booking Ever

The property was not clean, there where moths, flies and spiders. The pots and pans were rusty. The building had rotting window frames and window sills. We did not stay any nights there. We booked a hotel 40 miles away rather than stay a single night there. This listing should be taken off-line. In my view it’s inhabitable!

Not too bad

The house was fine but could have been a little cleaner. Spices in the cupboard dated 1991. We just didn't use. There is NO air, only fans. If it is a hot week, it would have been a huge problem for us as rooms are mostly upstairs. I think this should be noted somewhere. Otherwise it was a nice old farm house.

Nice location for a pet-friendly Door County stay

Great location especially if you have a dog and a big crew. Door County isn't super pet-friendly in their lodging choices. Location was #1 best thing about the house. The main floor was nice and large. Kitchen was nicely stocked with the pots and pans and utensils we needed. Even had batteries in the junk drawer which we needed (and replenished). Beds were comfortable, but wish they were queens (who sleeps in doubles anymore but kids?) Our weather was wet and rainy and we knew there was no air conditioning so that worked out well! Only 8 bath towels for an 8-bed home. Even though there is a washer and dryer (and even detergent) wish there could have been more. Our wifi worked fine in such a remote area I was impressed. Some cobwebs and dead flies in the windows - don't think they had been opened. We had to do a bit of cleaning! We were on the floor (we had toddlers) and either one rug or floor was super dirty because we all had a lot of dirt on our pants, but we couldn't figure out which one it was. It's definitely a farm house and if you have a big crew and a pet, we would recommend.

The house is in a great location (it seems like it was less than 20 minutes to everything we wanted to do), and it's cute and charming and in a very quiet area. On our second day, we discovered a termite infestation in the kitchen and soon realized there were termites on the walls in other parts of the main floor of the house. We messaged the management company and the owner/host immediately. By this time, it was nearing midnight and we didn't really have any other option but to spend the night. Later the next morning, we still hadn't heard back from either the management company or from the host, so we contacted VRBO. Only then did the host contact us. The termites were not their fault, but their lack of responsiveness (especially after their first contact that morning) and follow through of their promises caused a stressful end to what was otherwise a great vacation.

Decent for last minute booking

As described it’s an old farm renovated with some newer appliances. The dishwasher is old but washer/dryers, cooking range are newer. Well stocked with linens and in the kitchen too. There is no AC but the owner was upfront about it when I asked and mentioned that they have fans that can be used and fortunately for us we didn’t need during Labor Day weekend. While the place was largely clean but there were some spiders and insects in the living room and even in bedrooms which I removed using their vacuum. It wasn’t unhygienic although additional cleaning in bedrooms would be better. Internet was very slow and streaming wouldn’t work. None of the bathrooms or bedrooms have locks, this was our biggest problem as a group. Overall still a decent experience given the last minute booking we made.

A perfect farm house for a family vacation

We loved the remote location, watching the birds in nearby fields (sandhill cranes, geese), the expansive landscape, a beautiful willow tree in the front yard, well-equipped historic farmhouse. The owners took the time to research the story of the property and the family who started farming there over a hundred years ago - it was a very interesting read. The downstairs bedroom is wheelchair accessible. We loved the spacious screened in porch. Our dogs enjoyed the stay as well! Thank you! We will be back!
