  • These ruins are part of the Historic City of Ayuttaya UNESCO World Heritage Site. The three stupas hold the ashes of three important kings who ruled the kingdom. The ruins are part of the royal palace that was built sometime between 1351-1369. The ruins are very awesome to see but people do not pay much attention to signs about not climbing on them - but no one enforces the rules either. Sad to see such old architecture being disrespected by someone trying to take a perfect selfie.

The room was clean and the staff was excellent. Thai people are always welcoming. The restaurant at the hotel was good and the view was amazing. Didn’t get to explore much while there but will be returning to the same hotel when we have another chance to stay in ayutthaya

The ground floor room with a river view was nice. The terrace furniture was a bit dirty and many ants so didn’t sit outside much. The breakfast was incredible and tables were right beside the river with a great view of the temple opposite. Staff were all very polite and helpful. Definitely one of the nicest hotels in the area,

Great staff, especially Fon. Perfect location on the river and some of the best Thai food I've ever had (the green papaya salad couldn't have been more fresh!). I wouldn't suggest the pool room.... It feels clostrophobic, no view of anything.

Hotel is not big, but well designed for relaxation. Staff hospitality was excellent, I felt no less than that of 5 star hotels. Restaurant has nice view and atmosphere, taste good, but bit expensive. Overall, our family enjoyed stay here very much !

The view from the Sala Hotel is incredible. Both day and night you see beautiful old ruins with a flowing river. The Dino g area sits directly opposite to the temples so you have fantastic views while enjoying their delicious cuisine.

Beautiful hotel on the river

Gorgeous hotel on the river of Ayutthaya. My wife and I had a lovely stay here. The hotel restaurant is top notch, with a wide variety of dishes. The food was very high quality and well presented. Rooms are very modern and comfortable. The only problem I observed during my was that the pool was not very well maintained and, although visually stunning, a bit small. Overall, would certainly recommend and would love to stay again.

Apparently this is one of the 'best' hotels in Ayutthaya so you have to take the good with the inconvenient. Designed as a 'boutique' hotel - emphasis seems to be on design over guest experience. The main passage is dramatic and impressive - leading to lots of halls with stairs to rooms on the upper levels. Some of the best upper rooms have very steep, very high spiral staircases - so be aware if you have any limitations. We had a terrace room on the main lever, but there were hard to see places where there with 'steps down' without visual clues - and it would be easy to fall. Rooms had everything you needed - but huge tub/shower area and tiny 'water closet' without a lock or ability to keep the door shut. Most people come for one or two nights, so not a deal-breaker, but very expensive compared to nearby hotels that have similar features/reviews. We had lunch when we arrived and it was expensive and not impressive - to the point that we decided to go elsewhere for dinner. However, the included breakfast is a stand-out with great service, presentation and quality overlooking the river and temples on the opposite side. Reception area is minimal and surprisingly unimpressive for a hotel of this level. The attached 'gallery' with seating had a pervasive odor of sewage which they tried to cover with incense - when asked, the staff said 'it was the drain' and seemed unconcerned. If you want to stay where VIPs go - this is the place, but expensive compared to other options.

Book, you will not regret

The location is great, tuk tuk to the door to take us around town, booked a evening boat tour that picked us up on the river on the river side of the hotel, the breakfast that is provided is a 20star breakfast. Amazing.

We recently stayed at Sala Ayutthaya and had a truly memorable experience. Although the adjacent river had risen considerably during our stay, the riverside restaurant remained fully operational and our meals were absolutely delicious — a testament to the hotel’s resilience and excellent service. The hotel staff were all consistently warm, friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The interior of the hotel and our room stood out in the best possible way: the design was unique, fresh and unexpected, giving us a delightful sense of discovery every time we returned. We were also impressed and grateful that the hotel offered complimentary rental bicycles for sightseeing — a thoughtful touch that really enhanced our stay in Ayutthaya. After checking out, we inadvertently left behind an item in our room; when we contacted the hotel they responded immediately and handled the matter professionally, even arranging for the item to be mailed to our home address. That level of care far exceeded our expectations. In short: if you are planning to stay in Ayutthaya, we wholeheartedly recommend Sala Ayutthaya — it delivers excellent food, outstanding service, intriguing design, and genuine attention to guest needs.
