Disappointing service and rooms not ready!
Check in was 2pm and we arrived at 2.05 planning to have an afternoon nap, then get ready to leave to go to a wedding down the road at 4pm. Unfortunately, the room was not ready, and we had to hang around until 3.10 to get into the room. Whereupon we had to race to get ready in time. If we had known, we wouldve stayed at home and gotten ready there. There were AT LEAST two other guests that this happened to as well, so it wasn’t a one-off occurrence. They offered us late checkout which was of no use to us, then Como breakfast, which TBH, was complete crap. Being your own food. The curtains were coming off their track and there was what looked like a bloodstain on the carpet. Not impressive. Disappointing response when I gave feedback. Judging by other feedback, the management of this hotel has declined in recent years. The chain management needs to step in and sort out.

Great Auckland Skyline Views
The place is a little drive away, but if your willing to commute and go through traffic everyday, the harborside and Auckland skyline views are worth it. The place itself is a little worse for wear and would greatly benefit from a little touch up. Cleanliness was meadiocre. Its a shame because this place has the potential to be one of the best stays (good views, ok commute, good staff) in Auckland. However, during the middle of our stay, we asked our room to be cleaned. Good thing we went back early because we found our hotel room door, wide open, with all our stuff, othes and bags hanging around. I mean, i dont think anything was stolen and it looked like we came back to our stuff like how we left it, but it appeared like the cleaner left our hotel door a-jar after cleaning the room. It looked like theh were understaffed and busy that day, but that was very unacceptable.

The room was large and a good price for the area. The kitchen was clean, tidy and kept well. The bathroom was big but a bit run down. I was in a garden apartment and there were ants along the wall in the lounge and into the bedroom.

Booking stated King size bed we were given Queen size which was extremely soft and uncomfortable Apartment was old and needs redecorating carpets in the apartment are badly stained Restaurant menu was extremely poor and the advertised special we ordered was not available due to delivery problems

The apparent was very spacious inside with modern kitchen and bathroom. There is plenty of storage space everywhere, including a walk in robe. The views from room 310 were excellent looking over the harbour and city, although there is a big ugly tree blocking half of it. The apparent windows were very dirty and the balcony was covered in leaves and sap from the tree. Not nice to walk on in bare feet. It is a short walk to the boat harbour and ferry. There are no restaurants or shops nearby, but the restaurant at the resort had nice meals at very reasonable prices. The view from the restaurant was perfect. Overall it was a nice place to stay for the night.

Nice view from our suite. Mismatched toilet seat. Ensuite bathroom position meant second couple had to walk right around the bed of first couple during the night to pee.

Some of the staff were great. The property was what we needed. The only problem was the room was not ready on check in at the time as other guests over stayed so not their fault. Hotel was fully booked. How ever this was not our problem. We were left waiting with a young family. The room needed the floor cleaned it was stained and messy. We found empty bottles of alcohol under the bed. It must have been a party room. Overall not that impressed as too the cleanliness for the young family.

Property quite tired and untidy grounds. No one on reception when we checked out just after 8, room still being cleaned at 5pm on arrival, asked for blanket for bed and didn’t arrive.

This hotel has wonderful views of Auckland, we traveled in December before schill holidays so wee given the best room withthe best views during all our stays. This one in particular was fantastic. Room #213, nice kitchenette. Modern and chic apartment

Spacious apartment- good value.
Much bigger apartment than expected and good value for money. Enjoyable walk to Bayswater Marina. A 50% charge was taken from our Visa card on booking with a 3% non-refundable surcharge. We tried to pay with bank transfer to avoid this but not possible.

Our room was spacious, however the tv and the channels are appalling, only a few to choose from, some have no sound and others have lines running up and down all the time so can not watch anything. When we checked in a sign said back in 5 minutes, and I am not sure how long the person had gone for before she put that sign up I waited a while before she turned up apologizing. When we checked out the same sign was there again. No greeting at reception. Little personal touches about the place would have been nice, to know about the restaurant they have there etc. For the price that we paid I would not rush back there.

This was the second stay at VR Takapuna we were impressed on our first stay 18months ago, it was clean and amenities were in good condition. Unfortunately this time we had a unit which had a mouldy yuck shower, fan in bathroom wasn't working and obviously hadn't for a while by the paint damage on ceiling. Couch was grubby and fridge shelves broken, while we had an ironing board no iron. We went for a drink in the lounge, sign said back in 5 minutes we sat in lounge for approximately 30 minutes before we gave up on a nice glass of wine taking in the view of the harbour bridge.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Great communication. Perfect location as a halfway point between Takapuna & Devonport. The room was spacious & very clean. We enjoyed having a washing machine/dryer in our room too. Stunning views of the harbour bridge. The only two things that let this place down is the parking and the stained carpet, although it is clean it looks dirty & needs replacing. We have stayed here many time about five years ago and will stay here again.

Hotel staff were friendly and efficient and the location was lovely. The hotel itself was okay, but I found the furniture on the terrace bar to be old and needing either replacement or repairs. I also found our room somewhat run down with carpeting that was loose and wrinkling and caused me to trip over. The bed was uncomfortable and saggy. It could do with being replaced. The bathroom though reasonably clean the shower grouting was cracked mouldy. As well, the bathroom floor was not level with the bedroom floor with a slight ramp fitted between the two. Again, I found this to be something I kept tripping over. The kitchen was well equipped, but the fridge and freezer were a bit awkward to get into because the cupboard facings were broken from the fittings to the front of the fridge and freezer. And although there was an ironing board in the room, there was no iron. I do not know what the other rooms were like, but the room we stayed in could definitely use some improvements.

The room was spacious and great with a nice view of Auckland city skyline. We decided to try their restaurant since we got in late and everything else was closed. Don’t ever eat there!! The food was terrible. I had the worst steak ever. They didn’t even give us steak knife to eat with! Risotto was starting to smell funny and everyone at the table had a horrible meal. The service was terrible too.

1. Quite a distance from Takapuna, but there are few dairy shops and fast food outlets (e.g. McDonald's & Pizza Hut) approx. 4 mins drive. 2. Close to Bayswater Marina (approx. 4 mins by walking). You can go to Auckland CBD by ferry (approx. 15 mins) and enjoy the Auckland views. 3. 1 bedroom apartment was a nice space and complete with everything you need if you want to cook your own meal (e.g. stove, microwave etc)
