Northwinds Adventures Da Barn in Heart of the Keweenaw

Find peace and tranquility while staying in this Renovated Barn, which used to be a goose hunters camp. Located on the property of Northwinds Adventures (a year round camp) this cozy and inviting barn offers everything inside and out. Once you step inside you will be welcomed with the gorgeous reclaimed Tennessee oak railing hardwood floors. The main floor consist of a free standing wood fireplace, new appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave), coffee maker, all the pots and pans needed for cooking, oak paneling, futon, satellite TV, and a half bath. Upstairs, find a large main bedroom with queen bed(linens provided), Full futon in sitting area, maple paneling, and a full bath (walk-in shower) with washer/dryer. From the upper level, take a walk out on the deck and enjoy the beautiful overlook showcasing only part of the property. If you are coming up to ATV or snowmobile, we ask that you DO NOT ride machines on the property.

For those avid snowmobilers, you can find the main snowmobile trail, Freda Loop 3 miles away (shoulder road accessible when snow covered).

Another wonderful stay. This is our favorite place to vacation! It's always clean and well stocked that allows us to never have to leave if we don't feel like it. The woodstove and snowshoe trails are definitely the highlights of the property for us!

Peaceful, quiet, relaxing place to recover after the holidays! Not far from town so we could pick up groceries and not have to leave again! Snowshoeing the trails on the property is always a beautiful treat! Our favorite place to stay!

We stayed the weekend to visit our MTU daughter. It was a perfect location- very quiet, easy to find. Very comfortable to come back and relax. Upstairs porch perfect for watching the moon and stars.

Consistently Wonderful

We return to Da Barn year after year and have a consistently wonderful stay! The place is always clean and inviting! We love the wood stove, walking trails, kitchen supplies, and proximity to town. Michelle's communication is always top notch and her local suggestion booklet always leads us to finding a new favorite each time we visit! Cannot recommend staying here enough!

This was a great location near MTU (about 15 minute drive). The kitchen had every kind of pot/pan I needed. We enjoyed the property and the cozy feel of the place. I would stay again.

Winterfest at MTU

Beautiful location not too far from campus activities. While we didn’t spend too much time at the gouse it was clean and had a nice amount of space and two bathrooms! Always nice for getting ready in the mornings with ladies! We are looking forward to exploring more of the area in the coming years and Da Barn was a fun spot to stay!

I spent a week on my own and loved it. I was exploring the Keweenaw from here and could not have asked for more. Internet and DirecTV worked for the times I needed/wanted them, but turn them off and you feel like you are all alone up north. Great for reading and enjoying the views from the deck. I can't recommend Da Barn any higher. Everything I needed was there and clean. It was as if I was coming back to my own place!

Peaceful Escape to the Country

Comfortable, cozy and reasonably well appointed. Darn good kitchen and tools. Only suggestion would be to add a hot pot! We loved sitting out on the deck and overlooking the countryside; it was good for the soul! And, of course, lots to do in the area. We stayed 3 nights and were able to go up the peninsula and explore Houghton-Hancock. It was just what we needed.

Perfect For Our Visit

My wife and I stayed two nights at Da Barn for our visit to see our nephew, who is in a Doctorate Program at Michigan Tech. Like others have said, the listing matched reality, with the property being clean, organized, and well-stocked. We are in our early 60's, and navigating the spiral staircase was not a problem, with traction strips on every step (we did bring our luggage in via the outside steps). Another nice thing was having an abundance of outlets, which provide plenty of options for all of our "must have devices" these days, even if you had the maximum number of four people. Finally, the property is centrally located, which made our exploring the area very easy. To summarize, you have no reason to not stay here! We highly recommend it, and plan on staying again during our next trip to Houghton / Hancock!
