Large apartment / 180sq.m (1937sq.foot). Rented as a whole or as 2 separate and connecting apartments, found in two different listings, located on the first floor (1st in Europe / 2d in the U.S.).
We are honored to introduce our latest apartment (2023), especially designed to offer comfort and accessibility, so much needed in Athenian short-term rentals, for leisure or business trips.
The Gracious apartment is the fourth large apartment at the A.U.R.A. complex, a privately owned and managed property building, in the most convenient, quiet, and beautiful Athenian neighborhood named Thission, in the heart of the Athens historical center.
Visitors’ comments for all A.U.R.A. properties primarily focus on three major advantages: Quality accommodation, ideal location and a hospitable host/owner, supported by an admirable team. What follows explains why.
The apartment’s description:
The A.U.R.A. Gracious Accessible Apartment is situated on the 1st floor (2d for U.S.) and is served by an elevator. There are 4 comfortable bedrooms (one with a queen size sofa bed) and 5 bathrooms (3 en suite and 2 next to the respective bedrooms). Please note that three bedrooms can be set as either king size or two single beds, based on our guests' convenience, while one bedroom is equipped with a sofa-bed. The bedding arrangements provided on this listing relate to the maximum capacity. In the spacious living room, another sofa bed may also accommodate 1-2 persons. Guests are kindly requested to define their desired bedding arrangements and we will be happy to have them prepared accordingly.
We are proud to have created one distinguished part of the apartment as wheelchair accessible (also found as a separate listing) with a specially designed bathroom and accessibility features.
The kitchen area connecting to the living area and large dining table, is convenient and comfortable for homemade meals. An inviting balcony offers a lovely view over the street’s life as a theatrical scene overlooking Athenians passing by to enjoy a drink, or meal in one of the neighborhood’s hip spots. An electric piano is also added for small musical gatherings, always with respect to the quiet hours which prevail in Greece.
All rooms offer separate A/C, and the apartment is quite spacious, offering guests’ autonomy and privacy which are so valuable during traveling, even for the closest group members.

DESCRIPTION IN DETAIL FOR GUESTS WITH VISION IMPAIRMENT:
Entering the apartment (door opening into the left) we found ourselves in an entrance hall of 3m X 2.90m width.
On the wall across from the entrance door there is a metal coat hunger. To the right, half a meter from the door is a bench to allow taking off shoe; to the left, a closet with a washing machine and cleaning products.
The apartment extends to the left and right of the entrance hall. The left part is the larger one, the right part is adapted to physical accessibility. A long corridor of (9m X 1.14m width) leads to the left part. At 7.75m a door to the right opens to the Rodax bedroom with ensuite bathroom and an open closet. The corridor ends to the open kitchen area, found to the right and a quite spacious living area. An antique 3-seater wood sofa and two respective armchairs in a spectacular blue velvet are found to the left, just before the glass window leading to the balcony and front of the building. A large glass dining or meeting table for comfortably seated 10-12 persons is placed in the middle of the living area. A second 3-seater sofa and a comfortable armchair are placed on the right side, also next to a second opening window leading to the same balcony. At the end of the kitchen bench a door leads to a bathroom (for guests using the sofa bed) and to our Mosaic bedroom to the right with ensuite shower bathroom and a convenient open closet.
For the right part of the apartment, we cross a kitchenette to our left (refrigerator and freezer, two ring induction hobs and sink). Continuing straight we have a door to the left for the adapted bathroom to physical accessibility, a living area or bedroom with sofa bed and a large folding door and further to the right a large bedroom and second shower bathroom. The bedroom has the bed(s) across from its entrance door and to the right a 115m sliding window door which opens to a small balcony and a non-accessible roof top green area. The bedroom is equipped with a convenient open closet and wardrobe lifting mechanism for accessibility.
Other things to note: • To further complement our guests’ comfort we have created a privately owned and secure storage facility just across our building’s entrance. No need to worry about early arrivals into Athens or late departures as it may be accessed by code. • Parking is offered on the premises, upon request and based on availability. • Elevator is serving all floors, no stairs at the entrances. • The booking rate is for six guests. There is an extra charge of 50€ per guest / per night. This policy was judged as being to the advantage of smaller and larger groups. Prospective guests are requested to include the final number of guests in their inquiry.
New taxes were introduced in Greece recently, for all reservations made after 01.01.2024. As a result the total booking price is affected. More specifically; • A 13% V.A.T. is added to the booking price. • A Transient Occupancy Tax (0.75%) is included in the booking price for all reservations made before September 25th, 2025. • A Climate Crisis Resilience Fee (0.50€ or 1.50€ / per night depending on the season), is required to be paid at the end of the stay. - As per January 1st, 2025 the Climate Crisis Resilience Fee is modified from 0.50€ to 2€ and from 1.50€ to 8€ and is included in the total booking price for all reservations made between December 1st, 2024 and September 25th, 2025.
• The apartment fits up to 14 visitors by adding an extra single bed in the 4 bedrooms and having two people in the sofa bed. • Quiet hours prevail in Greece by law between 14:30-17:30 and 22:00-07:30 which all citizens need to respect. By booking this property guests are confirming that they are aware of the house rules and agree to respect them.

We had a wonderful stay. The location and accommodations were perfect for our multi-generational family of 8. My dad requires a walker or scooter full time and these accommodations were perfect. Marianne was so responsive to my questions and helped us plan our transfers and a wonderful full day private tour with a wonderful guide, Kelly, and private driver. We learned so much about Athens in our short stay. Thank you for such wonderful accommodations!
Fantastic location to experience the best of Athens
This is a large, spacious, well appointed location that is meticulous in its cleanliness and safety. The location was a 6 minute walk from the Parthenon, a 10 minute walk from Plaka and 3 minutes from numerous restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies. Our group of 8 adults had plenty of space to live and eat and vacation together. Superb!
There is nothing negative to say about Marianne's place! Beautifully appointed, comfortable and clean. Location was perfect - short walk to the Acropolis, restaurants, grocery, shops. Very safe neighborhood and building. Marianne and team were very welcoming and helpful. Great communication throughout the process. Highly recommend.
We all had a great stayMarianne met us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the apartment. She had papers that explained everything, she had a list of restaurants and transportation that she shared with us. Very nice area, quiet street and food, pharmacy and stores in walking distance. We had someone in our party who was feeling under the weather and we were allowed a later checkout. She made herself available to answer any questions or concerns that we had. Only suggestion is more suit case spaces for shorter visits. We will definitely stay again if we come back to this area.
