No hot water, had to wash my hair in cold water. Followed the instructions to get wifi, got it for about 2 minutes - then no connection. But the worst was the reaction from the guy in the reception, who tried to blame me for the bad internet and made the excuse that because that the ”hotel” was ”full” I should accept not to get hot water. Absolutely NOT acceptable!

Vi bookede et værelse på forhånd, da vi egentlig bare skulle tilbringe en halv dag i Athen, og have et sted at overnatte og have vores baggage. Kort efter vi havde checket ind, begyndte en stor tordenstorm og skybrud, og kort efter var der strømafbrydelse på vores etage. Vi sagde det til receptionisten, som ville fixe det mens vi var ude at spise. Da vi kom tilbage var strømmen fixet. Men så fandt vi ud af at det eksterne badeværelses toilets vand løb, og man ikke kunne skylle det ud. Vi sagde det til receptionisten, som ville fixe det mens vi gik ud igen. Da vi kom tilbage, sagde den nye receptionist at vi havde fået opgraderet vores værelse, nu med eget toilet der virkede. Vi kvitterede med at give drikkepenge med de beskedne sidste 5€ vi havde i kontanter. Receptionisten ville ikke tage imod først, men vi insisterede. Da vi spurgte om der var et sted tæt på hvor man kunne købe vand, gav receptionisten os to flasker vand, samt to kolde dåseøl på sin egen regning. Personalet var super flinke og hjælpsomme da der opstod problemer. Værelserne var udemærket til prisen, lagener og håndklæder var rene, og der var shampoo og sæbe. Helt udemærket sted til prisen ved et kort visit.

Vain toisessa huoneista oli ilmastointi. Kylpyhuoneen lavuaari oli likainen ja osittain rikki. Huoneessa juoksenteli torakan näköinen ötökkä. Yhdestä sängyistä hajosi osittain pohja. Meidät ryöstettiin hotellin edessä, mutta respan työntekijä ei auttanut mitenkään vaan käski lopettaa itkemisen ja käyttäytymymään hotellin aulassa. Viimeisenä aamuna respaan oli tullut uusi ihminen, joka oli auttavainen ja ystävällinen. Hänen takiaan annamme yhden pisteen.

I think some people might rate this place lower than I did. But as a solo male traveler, I don't need much. This place served my minimal needs. Some things worth noting that I did not know ahead of time: This hotel is in a somewhat run down part of town. Lots of graffiti, beggars and metal bars on shops. I asked the front desk attendant about my boundary conditions and he said after dark, on the nonmajor side streets maybe it is not so safe but during the day, main streets it is fine. I never had any trouble, but I followed his advice. It is a very short walk to the metro subway station at the Omonia square so very convenient. However, outside of the square, there are very few restaurant or bar type resources. But, only a couple of metro stops to Syntagma square where there are many options and a connection to the airport and one more stop to Acropolis station where the Acopolis, Agora, the Agora Museum, Acopolis Museum and National Archaeological Museums are.

The Elite Hotel Athens is an excellent choice if you want to stay away from the tourist areas of Athens. It is in Psiri and Omonia Square is several blocks away. This is where workaday Athenians are mostly seen and heard along with a bit of what you’d see deeper into the Omonia area. There are lots of cafes, small restaurants, shops, & pharmacies. The Elite is situated within 20-30 minutes walking distance of the main attractions in any direction, but Omonia metro is the closest station and is the main transfer hub for the entire metro. The hotel’s facilities are adequate. There’s nothing fancy. But you’ll receive daily housekeeping if you want it, and there’s a breakfast option you can pre-purchase. They are extremely accommodating and will even prepare a small plate of food for you earlier if you need to eat before the breakfast is available. The only thing to note is it isn’t a restaurant, and the breakfast is only for guests who have pre-purchased the option, the offering is limited to just a few items. The guys at the front desk are incredibly kind and they can answer any question you might have. The elevator is small and typical of this era of building, fitting 2 persons at a time. The stairs are steep but make for a good workout! I do recommend a white noise app on your phone, the sounds from the street outside can be noticeable and the noises echo through the hotel sometimes too, which is expected on a busy street.

das Hotel ist zum schlafen gut geeignet das Bett war bequem, das Personal sehr freundlich das Zimmer sauber ein Manko des Hotels, besonders das Bad ist wirklich renovierungsbedürftig wer allerdings ein kostengünstiges Hotel bevorzugt und nur Abend's zum schlafen im Hotel ist und ansonsten den gesamten Tag außerhalb des Hotels verbringt, ist hier richtig. ein weiteres Manko ist die Umgebung leider viele Obdachlose, Bettler, Drogensüchtige und Prostituierte aber trotz dieser Umstände gibt es in der nähren fußläufigen Umgebung des Hotels etliche Geschäfte, Supermärkte, Restaurants, Imbisse, Bars, Cafés die Auswahl ist wirklich groß!

I enjoyed my stay here very much, this was my second time to stay at the Elite I stayed for 5 days, it suited my needs perfectly as it is at a very central location, and close to the Metro, the local area has improved a lot in recent years. It is clean and the staff are very helpful, however be aware it is a older building, the lift is a piece of mechanical history worthy of any museum. I plan to stay here again on my next visit to Athens. Philip B.
