The hotel was lovely, staff friendly, rooms clean and comfortable, pool lovely (although cold in April!), food great and views from the rooftop amazing! We had 4 nights here (mum and 13 year old daughter) and had no issues. We used the main roads rather than the back streets (which maps will give you when walking as the shortest distance) and always felt safe. Very close to Omonia Square metro and a short walk to Monastiraki. We would stay here again, for the hotel quality and staff service.

The Dorian is very well located, my single room was well appointed and clean. Athens is quite safe, and although the area around the hotel looked dirty and full of graffiti, it was perfectly fine to walk around during daytime. The rooftop restaurant has an amazing view of the Acropolis, and the food at the restaurant there was quite good, but not as much as the friendly and efficient staff. Would definitely stay there again!

The hotel is in walking distance of the metro station and hop-on/off bus routes, and great to use as a base for exploring the city and wider region. Really enjoyed making use of the rooftop pool and bar after a hot day out and about.

3 Nights in Athens

Three nights in Athens been here many times so had a good idea of where to stay and qual of hotel. Omonia has changed a lot , we didn’t feel the area was particularly bad and Sat by fountain most nights no issues lots of places to eat.. Excellent metro links to all sites and Airport. The hotel room was good had an upgrade the bed comfortable room and bathroom good. One issue was air con not working and at 26c coming from uk winter it felt hot in the room we were able to open window at night so not too bad. Check your air con before unpacking. Otherwise for the price we had no issues usual single news channel, think one other channel for various tv series etc in English . Think most hotels should just upgrade the TVs so people can stream from phone. I would stay at Dorian again.

Bad neighborhood

AC did not work, shower did not have a place to keep your shampoo or soap or hang a towel, there was no shower head. Terrible bathroom with old marble tiles, may be from 1960 when the hotel was built. Bad neighborhood. You can see homeless people asking for money next to the hotel. No nearby place to eat. It is situated in a really bad neighborhood. I would never stay here again.

The receptionist at the desk was not friendly at all during check in. Our door to the room would not close easily, had to slam it to close. The photos must have been taken when the hotel was new, it did not look like the photos at all. The area surrounding the hotel was dirty, you felt very unsafe. The TV was from 1990s and no good reception. The toilet was crooked, the tube had a hand wash wand. I was very disappointed to say the least. That being said the roof top was nice. The pool was clean and nice. The staff at the bar were friendly and accommodating. But that was it. The staff for the breakfast were not nice or friendly at all. I would only consider this place as a last resort.

Best part is the pool at the top of the hotel, staff were all lovely. You can leave your bags safely at the start and end of stay. Breakfast was buffet hot and cold all you would want. Bad points room was not what was shown on Booking .com expected a lovely bathroom with walk in shower. Got a very old bathroom with mould around bath tub, no shower only a hand held sprayer, toilet seat did not fit and bits falling off.Only three rooms in the entire hotel have theses and they are suites. The bed corners were missing and ripped your leg if you were not careful. Carpets in room and corridor had defiantly seen better days. Our rooms with balcony faced an apartment block above a very noisy road, but then all rooms what ever side you had were the same. The AC only works when you have your card key in the slot in your room so when you came back from a day out the room was hot. The lifts are very small and slow. Staff were all helpful and especially the bar staff at the pool side were lovely. You can have food at the bar by the pool very good menu and reasonable price. The view from the top pool side is just spectacular, the pool itself has one very deep end which no area you can stand up in, then off to the far end a small shallow section for children. Around the pool are bean bags and recliners, absolutely the best part of the hotel. Hotel staff will arrange transport to airport much cheaper than Uber and what l could find on the internet. Walking okay from hotel.

For many years I have stayed in this Hotel. Got to know some of the staff that have been working there for many years, it was great to see familiar faces. Everyone is pleasant and welcoming. I used the pool and the service up there was excellent also. The rooms are always very clean and tidy and the Hotel is close to everything, which makes things easier for us foreigners visiting Athens. Keep up the great job.
