"If you are visiting Osaka area and want to experience authentic traditional Japanese lodging (ryokan) in an off the beaten path place, this might be the place to go. It's about 40 minutes away on a local train from Namba statiuon (Nakai Koya line). There doesn't seem to be much around the ryokan although we really didn't explore. We stayed in a similar property in Hakone when visiting Tokyo a year ago and it was a well known hot spring town so there were a lot more things to do. We stayed at...

"It was an old building that was okay but not well-maintained. The staff were very helpful, kind, and friendly, despite their limited English. The great bonus was the onsen (hot spring). The room was very big—almost three times the size of other rooms we stayed in during our visit to Japan. However, the location was not good at all, being next to a busy highway and very far from the old town or Nara Park."
