Had an amazing stay at the Hideaway cabin. It was cozy, comfortable and just what we hoped for. Fantastic scenic views nestled next to running creek and secluded forest. Perfect place to relax also conveniently located to Erwin and Asheville. Absolutely awesome hosts with a genuine concern we had the best experience possible.
Valda and Chuck are marvelous hosts with a stunning mountain property. We and our dogs did not want to leave this beautiful, tranquil woodland retreat. Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to come back.
Chuck and Val’s place is positively beautiful and peaceful. It’s the perfect getaway for an extended weekend to relax and fit in some good hikes around the area. They were so warm and welcoming and added so many little perfect touches around the cabin and property. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.
We ( my spouse, me, and our dog) had a lovely stay over Christmas. Chuck and Valda were wonderful hosts and Chuck graciously helped two city folks with building an outdoor fire. Our dog loved lounging on the deck and we had everything we needed to cook a few holiday meals. 10/10!
This is a quaint little studio cabin with full kitchen and internet. The outdoor patio is great with lots of space to hang out and a fireplace. Firewood was provided for us. The creek is down a steep slope, but there are ways to get to it if you are keen to explore. Chuck and Valda met us on our arrivala nd gave a lot of great information about the history of the area and our cabin in particular. It was like staying with a favorite Aunt and Uncle than with strangers.
Beautiful location, and hosts Chuck and Valda go above and beyond. The cabin was clean, and the kitchen had everything you could ever need for cooking! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect vacation. Our 2 dogs loved running around, and playing in the creek, and even made friends with the resident dog! The property has so much history - and I'm sure we only scratched the surface! We will definitely be back.
We had a great stay at Hide away from it all! The place was so beautiful and so quiet! The beauty around this cabin is awesome and the great history of the area is all around that land. The hosts were so nice and accomodating, they even left cookies and homemade ice cream. We will be returning soon!
Perfect stay in every way! Host is amazing and friendly, such a sweet couple. Anything you need in cabin for your stay that you may forget to bring. Was welcome with fresh chocolate cookies and homemade ice cream!! We plan to come back again in the spring. Our fall trip to see the mountains made even more amazing with our stay at the cabin! We stayed for three days but my husband said he would like to stay a whole week next time. Thank you Velda and Chuck:)
We spent a wonderful 4 nights at The Hideaway. The cabin is nestled in the woods and was cozy and well equipped for all of our needs. Val and Chuck were gracious and welcoming hosts. They were available to us for any questions or needs and shared with us the fascinating history of the property and area. We were there to celebrate Tom’s birthday and Val made him a delicious cake in addition to the homemade cookies and ice cream provided in the cabin. The deck was amazing with a beautiful view of the creek and woods. We were a short drive from the state park and enjoyed hiking there with our dog. We can’t wait to come back and experience The Hideaway in other seasons.
If I could give a higher rating I would. The host were amazing, chuck showed us around and told us some of the history about the property and there is alot of cool facts. Valda gave us a big hug and made us feel right at home. The property is fun to explore with a really nice creek. The cabin is was perfect for my wife and I to celebrate it anniversary. The state park just a few miles away had some great hiking. We will defiantly be coming back again. And also can’t forget about there dog that will come visit and keep you company especially if your cooking some good sausage or bacon. 10 out of 10 for real!
Our stay was fantastic, the perfect place to enjoy a beautiful setting in nature and family. My sister and her family rented the other cabin and bunkhouse on property that made for a wonderful vacation between our families. This was her second time staying here bc she loved the property so much. I will def be back!!
Wonderful cozy stay. We came for a family wedding in Flag Pond. The host was very accommodating & had great stories about the property & surrounding area. The homemade ice cream and cookies were bonus and greatly appreciated. For a family with 2 small children, this worked well. The outside space was very charming with the old fireplace. Thank you for sharing your lovely space.
We really enjoyed the 200 year old fireplace surrounded by the autumn colors of the surrounding trees. Our hosts, Chuck and Val, were so welcoming when we arrived. We got a tour and enjoyed hearing some local stories and history of the property. Very comfortable stay with everything one could need. Chuck gave us a tour of the other nifty cabins on their property and Val even made us homemade cookies and strawberry ice cream!
My stay was just what I hoped for! The property was in a perfect location to enjoy abundant hiking opportunities and then come back and relax for a peaceful evening around the historic fireplace. Chuck and Valda are very accommodating and the cabin well stocked with everything I could need. I really appreciated the cleanliness and artful touches. Thank you and I hope to return someday.
This is a fantastic little hideaway in TN that offers a lot of privacy and peace. You can hear the creek and cannot hear road noise. They are dog friendly and our golden retriever had a blast in the creek. Chuck and Valda are incredibly nice hosts and told us all about the history of the property which was fascinating. The home is a tiny home/studio but has all the essentials. We had a great trip.
This was our favorite short term rental we have ever been to! Super peacful with the sound of a running creek just 100 ft away. The cabins history and surrounding area is a facinating story. The cabin had everything you need to feel comfortable and all kinds of cool knick nacks everywhere you look. You can tell the hosts really put a lot of effort into maintaing the property. A superb value at the listed price, we highly recommend!
We would like to thank Velda and Chuck for a most delightful stay. The outdoor spaces were so much fun. I had a fire in the 200 yr old chimney most mornings with my coffee. I have been in the hospitality industry for 42 years and these folk know what they are doing. We felt very well taken care of.
Sincerely, Mathew, Hiram, and Lily
The Hideaway was perfect! Chuck and Valda have thought of everything! Fully stocked bathroom (even Advil, etc.) and kitchen pantry (oil, seasonings, all the basics - PLUS - to cook a meal), eggs and bagels, homemade ice cream and cookies, ice in the freezer— everything we needed! Side note: the water here is delicious! A fire in the fireplace on the pavilion was perfect in the rain. Sigh… A Christmas movie on the tv with twinkling Christmas tree lights and the sound of rain on the roof—
My son and our two dogs stayed for a few days at this cute little woodland cottage. It was so cozy and lovely. We loved the sound of the creek, the deck was amazing, the bed comfortable and Vanda and Chuck were spectacular. We were greeted with homemade, cookies, peach ice cream, eggs and lots of supplies. Which was truly unexpected and such a perfect treat for us.
Our dogs were living their best life running all around the cabin. Would highly recommend, Vanda and Chuck were some of the nicest people I've ever met. I hope we will be able to come back and visit them again!
My husband and I celebrated our 31 anniversary.08-14 8-16.All the best reviews of our Host Chuck and Valda are so true.It was great to be able to take our two big dogs with us.Chuck and Valda shared their front yard with us,beautiful view of the water. My favorite was listening to the water and all the moss. Two night isn’t enough, booking more next time.
We didn’t want to leave.
Thanks again Chuck and Valda
I don’t even know where to begin! The Hideaway is one of the best and most unique places I have stayed in my LIFE! The sound of Sams creeks rustling through the property is absolutely breathtaking! Chuck and Valda are just the best! From the homemade cookies and ice cream to all of the wonderful stories about the property, it just doesn't get much better! 5 Stars does not do this wonderful place justice! Thank y'all again so much! We will be back!!!
This place is a gem. Overlooking the stream gave us a non-stop feeling of nature. Chuck and Valda are such warm hosts and did everything and more to make us feel welcoe. I know the homemade cookies and ice cream have been mentioned before but they were great. Sitting on the deck the first night with a cup of tea and a cookie by the stream was perfect. Valda and Chuck also pointed us in the direction of so many places to visit while we were there. Lovely cabin with everything we needed. Top stars to the Holyfields and their property.
Everything about this stay was amazing! Valda and Chuck have truly created a beautiful oasis here, it's such a beautiful location and so peaceful. The sound of the creek running through the property is just so relaxing. It was also the middle of July yet it was so nice and cool.
Chuck was happy to share the history of the property and the area, love the old buffalo trail and 200+ year old fireplace is beautiful.
It's a great location to explore NE TN and the stunning mountain views, Johnson City is only a 30 minute drive so nice and close. Valda and Chuck are such warm & wonderful hosts from the yummy homemade cookies and ice cream to the wonderful conversations this was my favorite vrbo stay! HIGHLY recommend 10/10 Thank you both for your warm southern hospitality. xoxo Tom & Toya
Streams of Living WaterChuck and Valda’s mountain retreat is absolutely breathtaking! We went to see the fall leaves… They were spectacular! When the wind would gently blow, the golden, shimmering leaves in all their brilliance would sparkle and twirl down to the ground and my granddaughter would proclaim with such delight, “It’s fall!” “It’s fall!” It was truly magical!Inside, the cabins were warm and cozy with a whimsical decor and outside were surrounded by a canopy of tall trees. Just below, was a winding crystal clear creek with smooth rocks and sounds of gently flowing water that lulled us to sleep each night as we snuggled in our comfy beds happy to be with family and excited to enjoy God’s creation at our very own private retreat! We loved fishing and exploring in the creek. It had an easy access or you could be adventurous and use the rope. I even had to try it! The grandkids loved the zip line! Some of our favorites were playing games, making s’mores, roasting hotdogs and telling scary stories around the fireplace. Thank you to Chuck for providing the wood and building the fire for us. We just had to light it! You really pampered us!We were very thankful to have both cabins including the bunkhouse. It provided more privacy for each family.Thank you Valda for your homemade treats. The chocolate chip cookies and strawberry ice cream were loved and enjoyed by all! You both have servants’ hearts and you warmed our hearts! God bless you always & forever!
