A very remote place. Very different. Yet marvellous meal and view of mountains and walk to Mount Sunday of Edoras dame in Lord of the Rings

The road out here was gravel, rocks, washouts , rabbits, hawks and stunning views, but I was not ready for how long and slow it was. Leave with plenty of daylight to get here. There is only one toilet and shower for the shared facilities. Desk guy was helpful. This place would be great for a multi night stay to get away from it all but not for those in a rush. I’m glad I went out though I wouldn’t have seen that region if not.

Wonderful stay in the middle of nowhere! Quiet, disconnected from civilization and a beautiful drive out to Mt Potts. Edoras was the star attraction (of LOTR fame) and was only a 5 minute drive. We had the entire place to ourselves in the morning. Lloyd was very helpful in the lodge and made excellent food for us. Would highly recommend. Only 20 minutes on loose gravel. Drive was spectacular on a sunny day.

What a wonderful location tucked up against the beautiful mountains. Lloyd is a marvelous chef ready to please. We slept like babies.

This a beautiful serene remote spot. The staff was extremely friendly, the rooms were lovely, and the view was unbelievable. The best place we've stayed on all of New Zealand.
