Very thin walls and noisy corridors with the cleaners each day. Room decor very grubby and the room was smaller than expected. Scaffolding up around the whole hotel blocking any window view. Bathroom was good though and clean but only one towel each and no hand towel.

Worst room I’ve ever stayed in (room 1319). The location is amazing and would choose this room over one further out for convenience as most attractions are easily walkable. Top floor of building with no working lift and the narrowest, steepest stairs so very difficult and unsafe getting bags up and down. Poor room condition, broken mirror, stained mattress and hole in the wall. Had to stuff window with tissue to stop draft from banging it open and shut. Paper thin walls. Main hotel appears lovely however the side building we were in was very very poor and run down. Staff are lovely however.

Hotel was private, quiet, charming, and in an accident location. Fairly inexpensive and staff was kind. I took off one star because I paid extra for the breakfast and the breakfast was not great. I would recommend saving to €15 for breakfast and it’s going to be close by cafes.

Delightful!
I was skeptical after reading so many negative reviews, so was delightfully surprised. The staff was super friendly and when they saw I was staying several nights, they upgraded me to a canal-view room. I LOVED having the tiny balcony with French doors to get fresh air. The bed and down blanket were SO comfortable. I walked and did activities for 9-10 hours every day, and I was always glad to come “home” to the Quentin! Also, fabulous location for activities, museums and easy access to the tram.

Rooms were comfortable. Plenty of hot water. WiFi in the hotel was terrible however. Got better wifi at local cafes. Staff at front desk was very helpful and friendly. Safe area for tourists.

The area of the hotel is a 10 but the rest didnt compensate for the conditions. I have been to many countires I know general standard of their hotels this was a different ball game. Our room was basement level so the windows opened to feet level. The constant noise from the street and cars meant you couldn't keep the windows open which turned it into a hot box. The dutch stairs made it into a death trap for older person we were traveling with. There was a side door entrance that didnt work. The door jam looked like it had been broken into and never repaired so the door did not close or lock properly. I dont mind a basic hotel for a good area but look else where if that is your goal. Expedia was terrefic with helping with a refund as we stayed only one night and moved hotels. I recommend the hotel jupiter just a few blocks away.

I saw the reviews that said the rooms were super small and that the stairs were steep, no elevator, etc. As a "hotel snob" myself, I thought that this hotel was perfectly fine for being a place to sleep, get ready, etc. For the people complaining about the room size, you shouldn't be spending that much time in the room to be bothered by it! The stairs were definitely steep, so that is something to keep in mind depending on the age of the traveller as it wasn't a problem for me but could be a problem for someone older. Overall, a good location and overall place for a little trip to Amsterdam.

Perfect for an exploring holiday
Stayed for two nights. Couple who were there to explore and not necessarily be in hotel, the room was perfect. Very small room with basic amenities but comfortable bed and modern bathroom. We only had hand luggage so was okay but no life and very narrow stairs so had to carry luggage up 3 floors

If the other hotels in Amsterdam are like this one, then it's easy to understand why the city has such a vibrant night life - anything rather than go back to your room. It will be a long time before I forget the look on my wife's face as we opened the door, although the descent into the basement via a flight of narrow, near-vertical stairs should have warned me. If you like a bed jammed between three walls, where you have to climb over your partner and along a ledge every time, to get in and out; space for just one person between the bed and the school desk (no table); a tiny stool to sit on (no room for a chair); and a window you can only peer out of in the hope of a glimpse of sky, then look no further. On the plus side, it was clean and the staff were helpful - but that's it. As my wife said, the best thing about this hotel was leaving it. Never again!

For £250 a night I don’t expect luxury but do expect a proper bed. The bed was awful with a dip in the middle and we couldn’t really sleep well. Also the towels were old. Despite us having paid for the room the hotel had no record of our reservation at first. The manageres was lovely though.

Good location! Easy to get to from airport. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Fairly quiet neighborhood. Very comfy beds! Spacious rooms. Very helpful staff. Only inconvenience was no elevator and very steep stairways!

A old hotel with no lift
For a 3-people room charged over GBP400 a night, it is very small and the room look a bit rundown & dirty with junks like 2 electrical fans in wardrobe, the shower drainage is a bit clogged. The hotel has no lifts and the stairs are so narrow and steep which I needed carry my heavy luggages to the 4th floor. The only good thing in room is the radiator working well. The choices in breakfast are very limited. The location is good with tram & bus within 5 ~ 8 minutes walk.

I really enjoyed the Quentin! The location is excellent and the staff were extremely friendly. The stairs were steep, but I got my exercise! I would gladly stay here again if i find myself in Amsterdam again.

The staff are helpful, but nothing more than what the job entails. the buildings are very tired with carpet loose, and the decor is very tired. The rooms are very expensive for the size, although quite well equipped. the bathroom is old, with the fixtures and fittings rusty and broken, although everything required (shower, toilet sink) worked

I didn't expect a whole lot of "extra" amenities, but the room we had was TINY and due to the ground level location the only window was not able to be opened. This resulted in a climate comparable to a sauna, and no good way to air out. The only possible way was to leave the front door open with a fan running, which left us exposed to anyone walking past our room on the way out the main enrtrance. The room was clean, the bathroom somewhat updated with a new sink, but there was black mold on the ceiling and at the bottom of the shower curtain that was put in place due to a broken shower door. There was no parking offered as part of the hotel amenities, which added an additional charge to our stay as I had to pay for parking separately. The hotel was located conveniently to public transportation, and the beds/pillows were very comfortable. I would not choose to stay at this hotel again if given the option.

Amazing stay
This hotel is in a lovely location, on the outskirts of the city so not too busy with tourists. It is on the tram route so easy access to transport around the city. It has a lovely view of the canal and overall has a good vibe. The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was nice and clean and provided tea, coffee and a hair dryer. The bed was very very comfy and we had the best nights sleep. I would return to this property again.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort
In dire need of updating…good location.
The hotel was in much need of some general maintenance. Chipped paint in our room and there was a very large window in our room that didn’t close. Very poor decor. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and small. The rooms were not cleaned daily and the staff was not very helpful or friendly …the location was good.

I really enjoyed the location and the rooms were nice, clean, and a great place to decompress after a day of visiting museums and restaurants. It's right across from a very nice park and really close to a central tram line.
