"Wir 4 hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt und haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber war jederzeit freundlich, schnell und unkompliziert.Die Unterkunft ist sehr gepflegt, sauber und bestens ausgestattet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die traumhafte, sehr ruhige Lage, die gleichzeitig ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt für viele Ausflüge und Unternehmungen in der Umgebung ist. Wir waren rundum zufrieden und können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank für die angenehme Gastfreundschaft – wir kommen gerne wieder!"

"The room was very modern, clean and spacious. It had a kitchen where we could cook basic things and there is a supermarket a short distance away. The rooms are in a series of low rise blocks, really nicely designed and set out with little pathways and sculptures. Our terrace had a great view of the mountains. We stayed 3 nights and used the regular post bus to get to Tiefencastel station for the train or to Chur. The spa is open in the early evening and it's great to use the outdoor jacuzzi and other facilities. We visited in the summer and it felt quite quiet, like an out of season ski resort. This was the cheapest place we stayed in Switzerland and also the best. Highly recommended"

"Excellent jumping off point for the hiking we planned on doing in the mountains, and an easy hike down to the Landwasser Viaduct (though the climb back up was not quite as easy).Steps to groceries. Unfortunately not a lot in the way of restaurants in Schmitten, and we were travelling without a car - which we understood in retrospect why it was surprising to the host when we arrived. The first night we walked down the hill to Alvaneu (about 5km) for a serviceable dinner at La Cantina. We got some groceries the next morning (the grocer is open from 8:00 to 12:00 daily) for breakfast and for snacks on the hoof, and then just made sure we were hiking through a town at dinner hour one night, and barbequed some sausages and vegetables at the property one night. Kitchen facilities at the property were great - the best I've had at a VRBO (or that other one I'm not allowed to name here, apparently).I probably wouldn't recommend not having a car to most prospective guests at this property, but it worked for us.Property was lovely for our crew of six - three "real" adults, two technical adults (20 and 18), and one brat (15) - and could have comfortably slept eight. We somehow did not get around to using the sauna. Had a bit of initial confusion but ultimately got our clothes clean in the laundry facilities. And loved the mountain air.Urs was a pleasure to deal with. Anita was out of town while we were there."

"This hotel is quite roomy and comfortable and very warm in the winter. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise with a good variety, especially the fresh fruit and salmon. The downside is no fridge or tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The manager happily did laundry for us which we really appreciated. We walked from the train (easy enough downhill) but learned afterwards that a bus meets the train, so look out for it!"
