"This hotel is truly vile; it is dirty, poorly maintained and has an obnoxious smell throughout. The worst issue was undoubtedly BED BUGS! I spent one night there, got next to no sleep, and came away covered in welts on my skin where I had been bitten. In the morning there were small blood marks on the bedlinen where the bites had caused me to bleed. The bathroom light didn't work, the mixer-tap shower didn't mix (you could have hot or cold water, but not both!) and there was a large skylight in the ceiling, with no blind - so the room was flooded in daylight by 4.45am. Under no circumstances should you consider staying here."

"This is a very interesting rural hotel that has excellent potential. However, a lack of staff hold it back. While it appears that the staff care and hustle, there just aren't enough of them to wait at table for all the guests, resulting in significant delays. Also, one of the lights in the room did not work (but it was late when we figured that out, so we didn't report it). The bathtub is slick and dangerous and difficult to get out of because of its depth and width (deep and narrow). I recommend a handrail on the wall to assist. There is plentiful parking at the property and the surroundings are lovely, being situated between Blairgowrie and Atholl. At night it was quiet and while the operable windows are not quite operable in our room, fresh air is available."

"There are several reasons why rhis hotel gets 5* from us:- The staff are simply superb. They are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They personalise their interactions and, are a credit to the hotel. The food in the restaurant (although expensive) is delicious and beautifully presented. The setting and scenery are just stunning - the riverside walks and the beautiful gardens are delightful. We will be back. Thank you"

"Nice grounds, lots to do and lots of wildlife. Loved the Dovecot and the beautiful birds everywhere! Very family oriented but still had a great time just me and my husband. Rooms in the hotel are a bit dated and run down, but fine for a short stay. One thing I didn't really appreciate was the lack of help from staff when trying to get a taxi to Gleneagles for a special lunch we had booked. I asked two separate members of staff if they could help me get a taxi as I was struggling and both times they just gave me numbers of local people (whom I had already tried, and told them this). It was a bit of a 'youre on your own then' situation. Thankfully we managed to sort something, but I wonder if they are this unhelpful with older people who might not have the capacity to sort their own transport. However, in other instances the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The taxi thing seems to be an issue however so it might be something to work on in future"
