The best area to stay in Águas Belas is the area around the Praia Fluvial de Águas Belas for its direct access to the river beach and local conveniences.

This area is the heart of the village's visitor activities, centred around the natural beauty of the Zêzere River. It's a relaxed, family-friendly spot with gentle river currents suitable for swimming and paddleboarding. You'll find a few local cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, offering traditional Portuguese fare. The layout is quite open, with accommodations often enjoying views of the river or the surrounding green countryside.

Families often find this area ideal due to the river beach's facilities, which include picnic areas and shaded spots. Children can enjoy playing in the shallow waters, and there's often a small playground nearby. The calm environment makes it easy for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their little ones.

For couples seeking a tranquil escape, staying near the river beach offers a peaceful retreat. You can enjoy strolls along the riverbanks, perhaps hiring a kayak or paddleboard for a quiet afternoon on the water.

The best time to go to Águas Belas is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the weather is comfortably warm, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C, which is ideal for exploring the surrounding natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities. You'll find the countryside is lush and green in spring with wildflowers blooming, while autumn offers beautiful foliage and the grape harvest season. These periods avoid the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months.

For those who enjoy a lively option and don't mind warmer temperatures, the summer months of July and August are also a good option. Temperatures can reach up to 30°C or higher, superb for enjoying the river beaches and local festivals. However, you should expect more visitors and potentially higher prices for accommodation and activities during this peak season.
