The cabin is nicely remote. It is in great proximity to the lake. It was a nice quiet getaway for us, but if we had children this would be a dream. With a treehouse and docks in the lake ,a paddle oat and kayaks.
Everything about this cabin is perfection. Clean, quiet, a beautiful view, a lake to swim and kayak in right outside your door. I loved falling asleep to the loons calling on the lake. I was even able to bring my senior dog along. Neither one of us wanted to leave and we most definitely will be coming back. My one piece of advice for future guests is to make sure you print out the directions to access the key and internet code because your cell phone will not work unless you are on their wireless account. I ended up having to drive back to the local country store so I could get enough service to pull the information off my account.
We were on a 50th wedding anniversary tour and of all the places we stayed, this was the one with THE view!....stunning from the firepit deck by the lake or from the living room with the window wall. The cabin was well equipped and clean. Thank you Jonathan for sharing your getaway with us! Devan and Sara
Adorable cottage! Comfortable and clean.
The view is awesome…right on Beaver Pond!
Love the location. This was our second trip.
I would highly recommend this rental!
My 2 adult kids and I stayed here last year and wanted to return for a couple days of peace and tranquility. Fish off the dock, listen to the owls at night, plus the stars are amazing. Jon is a great host, this was just what we needed. Highly recommended for a quaint little cabin getaway.
Such a perfect Aderondack location with a. beautiful view. Not far from other well known lakes and attractions. Property listing is accurate, If communication with host is needed, no problem as responce is excellent. We enjoyed our time at this lovely Aderondack cabin surrounded by nature in a peaceful and quiet setting.
The view was outstanding and the water was clean and nice for swimming. For my husband and myself (being in our mid-70s); the bed was hard to get into. This is a great place for younger couples who want to use it as a home base for all the activities in the area.
Lovely cottage. Beautiful location. Horrible furniture. Unfortunately the sofa was very poor quality, small and extremely uncomfortable. Not ideal for a relaxing vacation.
Cozy and clean, great location, quiet but close to everything. Upstairs not really suitable for adults to sleep. The screen porch was a savior due to bugs, etc. Quick response from owner when hot water went out.
We took sooo many pictures of the pond in different lighting, so pretty and tranquil! We saw turtles in the far end, a heron flew by almost everyday, and I think I saw an eagle soaring in the wind currents. Also… we had a 4 am wake up call with a black bear raiding the garbage can…we watched safely out the bedroom window and got a real thrill from it
GREAT STAY!!! And the screen porch is awesome!!

I would rent this many more times! This was a perfect getaway, the use of the boats were so fun for my kids and I. I loved that it was a home away from home. The host was quick to respond and the property is beautiful! I didn't want to leave, but i look forward to renting this again over the summer and taking my kids here. This beats camp grounds anyday!!! Thank you for this experience. You have provided such a welcoming and lovely place. The memories i got to make here with my kids are unforgetable!
Pros: Nice getaway home/area. Friendly people and atmosphere. Nice and quiet and was great walking/hiking for our dog.
Cons: not completely cleaned. Floors were dirty and cob webs all over. Bed and furniture could use updating. Pull out couch had mice poop on it and furniture and bed weren’t very comfy after being outside all day.
It was well equipped but it’s really suited for couples. The pullout sofa and upstairs beds weren’t comfortable. Also the upstairs could use a good cleaning. The stairs to get there aren’t the safest and the large window can easily be opened so not safe for young children. However, it’s a cute cabin with a wonderful porch and outside area. Loved the boats and fire pit, the beautiful view and the closeness to Chestertown.
My husband and I enjoyed the cottage, location and surroundings immensely. The pond was warm and inviting and the couple of neighbors we ran into were very friendly. Took the canoe around the pond and did a little fishing as well. The cottage has great hot water too. The bed was a little uncomfortable but definitely not a deal breaker and everyone has a preference when it comes to a mattress. The cottage is equipped with almost everything you need and we didn't have any problems with mosquitos which surprised me because they are attracted to me like crazy. We would definitely go back.
Was very nice place to spend our belated 50th anniversary get away. It matched our needs and expectations very well. The location on the pond is very beautiful which we enjoyed with the host's canoe, paddle boat and water side fire pit, the NYS Pharaoh Lake Wilderness was just minutes away for nice hiking (and canoeing - we were surprised to find that there were canoes available at the lake to use), the Crossroads store 10 min away had an amazing variety of items, including some basic food items we had forgotten to bring, the host replied almost immediately to our VRBO messages to host. The cottage has little or no cell reception but the WiFi there was fine and there was a land line phone (we didn't use it).
I've always wanted to see the fall colors up north and this cabin and location provided an opportunity to do that while also vacationing with the family. The area was quiet, the lake clear, and the cabin cozy. We felt very comfortable with a family of 5 (3 kids, 3,4,6) in the cabin. The view out the front window was incredible and the accessibility to the lake was a high point for us. We were treated to lake fog which was a special treat each morning. We even paddle-boated through it! I will note the road between the cabin and the lake was a anxious point with young kids, but we all learned how to be mindful of cars which drove by very infrequently. The loft area was a fun experience for our kids. I will say it is tight for an adult up there, and a bit tricky to navigate the shelf-stairs for young kids and adults (medium kids probably have no issue), but we all handled it just fine and we could tuck the kids in up there still. We loved the experience and would gladly return.
Cabin and property provided a nice quiet retreat. Kitchen and grill were sufficient for making meals every day. We loved the pond, and spent the week reading, kayaking, swimming, fishing, staring at stars and fires, and enjoying the quiet. Jonathan was quick to respond when we discoverd a bear had gotten into the garbage and had someone come clean it up within a few hours. Would have given 5 stars except:The cushions on the furniture were worn out which was rough on our older bodies. It was odd that the front windows had no blinds or curtains. We were on display to anyone passing by and often waived to neighbors as they looked in while passing. Hot water for showers was in limited supply but sufficient for one or two people if you're quick. Overall a good stay in a beautiful part of NYS.
This was a perfect vacation spot for a family getaway. The pond and deck were lovely, complete with a campfire and kayaks. The only problem was that Vrbo never sent us the standard email 3 days before, so we would know where the key was, so we just assumed that it would be somewhere obvious, which it was not. This turned into a lot of frustrating phone calls to Vrbo, trying to find out how we could get into the house. We had also sent an email (through Vrbo) to the owner, about a week before the trip, but never received a response. Besides that, the house was perfect. We loved the kitchen and living room area. Very cozy!
