Great position near transport links. Good value as it includes breakfast. Second visit. Housekeeping has gone downhill badly since my last visit. Had to complain to a Manager to get things changed, two days later. Seems like a cheaper contractor is now being used for housekeeping services and it shows. Given a room without a doona/duvet cover and told it was the norm in Australia (rubbish) and had to complain in person to the Manager to get things put right. Room was left unserviced one day and there wasn’t even spate toilet paper. Had to convince the Manager who eventually offered a room change which we declined as it was late into the evening by then and we didn’t want to pack and unpack again. People serving the room clearly had no idea what they were doing. Such a shame as the hotel had been terrific just under a year ago which is why I booked again. Wonder how they select contractors, maybe on cheap price and not quality. We asked for and got a two hour later checkout when we asked as we didn’t fly out until later. That was presumably our token compensation for all the hassle. Not what you’d expect from a Holiday Inn. Very disappointed as it spoilt our stay and we had to question the hygiene standards of the contractor. The top of the wardrobe where we had to store clothes ( not one drawer in the room) was filthy with dust so our clothes were covers in the dust too. Not good enough.

The cleaning of the room was not brilliant. Guests could take drinks up to their rooms but the cleaning staff did not remove them. I took mine back and staff at reception said that they had a shortage of wine glasses. Bins were not emptied in the room and tea and coffee and milk were not replaced. Reception staff were brilliant but shame about the rest.

Great location, walking distance to all parts of the city or to the trams to beach etc. Room was comfortable and we could not hear any noise from the street. Breakfast was OK but food choices could be varied a bit more. Gym is very basic.
