Lovely apartments, with a great range of pools to choose from. The complex is right next to a small Souk and supermarket, which made it really convenient for us. Location is beautiful, on a private beach opposite the mosque, but the taxi ride to the centre of Abu Dhabi is around AED80 each way. Staff were very helpful and rooms were lovely. We stayed with our three children, aged 7, 12 and 14, and they loved the freedom to roam the complex and the general safety of Abu Dhabi.

This was a phenomanal hotel that is great for families. We booked a 2 bedroom hotel apt that was able to have all 6 of us in a very comfortable fashion. Amenities include beach facilities, water sports and commection to the main hotel and shops and restaurants in the area. Highly recommended for families.

Luxury and outstanding service

My wife and I stayed in a Studio Residences located in a separate building a short walking distance from the main hotel. You can walk to the main hotel by a beautiful walkway in 5 minutes or hop on a gondola via the waterways flowing through the complex. The main pool has great views of the mosque and the nearby traders has a great beach bar and chill out areas (see my attached phtotos). The main compliment must go to the staff. They were all, with no exceptions, thoughtful, helpful and extremely welcoming. Nothing was too must trouble for them and I would return for that reason alone. The complete hotel complex with the buildings and the surrounding including the pool, was very good conditioned and super clean. The Souk next door is very handy for a cheap meal and Starbucks. Nothing else around nearby, but taxis are easy and cheap. Grand mosque is close and magnificent (must visit!). Highly recommended hotel in Abu Dhabi! Regards Svein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.

There was an absurd bridge to cross every time to enter the room. The staff were friendly but not helpful. No hose in bathrooms although this is common in an Arabic country. The showerbox was hard to use and leaked water. The coffee in the room was just Nescafe. The kitchen was good and the pool was OK. I won’t stay here again.

Fabulous In more ways than one!

Great accommodation with excellent staff. Zen and Wai on front desk where amazing with there personal touch. The residence is separate from the hotel but within a short walk. Much quieter than the rest of the complex but that was how we wanted it.... Far enough away from central city but still within a short taxi drive to airport, downtown Abu Dhabi and Yaz where the Formula 1 track is located. Will definitely be going back .....

Splendid vacation

We had an amazing week at the Shanghai-La. The apartment was of high standard, nicely decorated and fulfilled all our needs (fully equipped with washing machine, dish washer etc). The staff is extremely friendly and service minded, and very fond of children. They happily took us for rides in the golf cars just to make our 1.5 year old son happy. The beach is lovely and while the location is overlooking the Ritz on the other side of the water rather than the horizon it is great for all the activities in Abu Dabhi. Also, the beach and pool area is facing the sun set and the afternoons were magical. Next door to the hotel there is a souk with a supermarket, cafes and restaurants- very convenient for a family with small children. We couldn’t be more happy with our stay.

Tolle Anlage am Wasser

Wir sind wiederholt im Shangri-La oder im zur Kette gehörigen Traders Hotel gewesen. Die gesamte Anlage mit Shangri-La, den Service Apartments, dem Souk und dem Traders Hotel ist sehr schön gehalten und mit diversen Angeboten und Restaurants geht ein Tag schnell rum. Für uns ist es unser bevorzugter Anlaufpunkt in Abu Dhabi, von dem aus wir alles unternehmen.

My Family Was Very Happy

My rooms was right next to a nice pool and the beach, the rooms were very clean and specious, the hotel facilities are above five stars, including the electric carts and abra boat that transport you between the different parts of the hotel, the spa was amazing and relaxing, the beach and various pools were great. My family was really really happy during the few days we spent there.

The standard of Shangri-La normally is good, But this hotel is the exception. Avoid to stay at the residences ( they are not well maintained and the quality is low), skip the breakfasts buffet, you will be regret.

Quiet and relaxing

The residences were very quiet on a Saturday - I only saw one other family while there. The pool was nice - and deserted. The room was great - very spacious, and with all amenities.

Spacious room well suited for families with kitchenette and very nice pool area close by. Bathroom standard slightly below what one would expect from Shangri-La. Very attentive and friendly staff.
