"Nice stay for the evening. Central location, rooms were clean, many power and USB charge points in the room and staff were friendly and welcoming.
Areas to improve:
- room cards kept getting de-magnetised. Need to pop down to reception multiple times.
- room toilet fixtures should be updated. A bit nitty but tap in my room was positioned pretty awkwardly to use. "

"I had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated.
The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise.
The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner.
As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever.
I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent."

"This is my second time staying here and has always been very good.
It was still good, but I was disturbed alot by the neighbour next door talking incredibly loudly on his phone.
Also, I would have liked to not receive an email the day before I am due to check out, asking me to check out online.
I think it takes away from your experience of being away if it feels like the hotel is rushing you to check out. "
