"Hotel with a great location, but small rooms"
It was 2 nights, and it was reasonable price. Hotel has a great location. One step outside and there's tons of things to take pictures of, and plenty of nearby eateries for all budgets. The room was inside the building, so it was very quiet. Very small room, but it was clean, the bed was pretty comfortable. A room's window was facing a wall and another window. The continental breakfast had bare minimum: coffee and tea, toast, cereal with milk, cakes and toasts, one day - bananas, another one - oranges. Just enough to get you going in the morning. If you are not going to spend any time in your room, other than to sleep, I would recommend this hotel.

"Great place and amazing location"
I couldn't have asked for more. This hotel is privately owned and operated. Staff were so helpful and the room was small but comfortable.

"Nice hotel close to all eateries and shops"
Located in the heart of Market. This hotel was close to all the shops/stores and lots of surrounding night life. Walking distance to all the attractions. The staff were very helpful and polite. They all made my stay very comfortable.

"Great value hotel in down town San Fran!"
Good hotel. Dated, yes, but the rooms are clean, appealing and functional. 5 minutes walk from Powell St station, cable car and Union Square. Room was very good value for money, staff very friendly and you get a free glass of wine at check in. Breakfast costs extra, but you might prefer to get breakfast elsewhere. The hotel is movie themed. There are a few shady characters around the nearby streets as others have mentioned, but it's not that big a deal really, I never felt unsafe and there are so many other people around! San Francisco is a great city, lots to see and quite walkable. Get across to Fisherman's wharf for great seafood, especially crab - try the San Franciscan Crab Restaurant, or get a clam chowder served in a huge bread roll from one of the small places! A boat cruise is a good thing to do. Take a bus to Golden Gate Bridge and walk across and back (allow about 45 min each way).

Great little hotel the street is not too dangerous as there are more sketchy streets in this area like Eddy, etc. the staff is very helpful and overall if you are looking for a cheap and safe place to stay in downtown SF this is it! I will probably stay here again if I go to SF.

"Not a bad hotel, just in a bad area"
Hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful. On the fringe of a rough area, so beware at night - maybe take a taxi back to the hotel.

"Basic, budget hotel is a good location"
The room was clean, had a small bathroom with shower. The bed was comfortable. Had a small refrigerator, old TV with cable. Only complaint would be all the street noise, there was no air conditioner, so needed to keep the windows open at night. Otherwise if your just looking for a basic, cheap hotel room, this is a good option.
