Bulgaria officials market country as adventure destination

Recently, tourism officials from Bulgaria have been announcing plans to promote this area of the world as one of the premier adventure travel destinations in the world, reports Novinite.com. Travellers from New Zealand are often looking for the next big adventure travel opportunity to indulge in on their upcoming holidays, so a trip to this European country can be well worth the time and investment.
Bulgaria will have a strong showing at the annual Adventure Travel World Summit held in Luzern, Switzerland, this October. Officials from several travel organizations within the country are slated to attend, including Ljubomir Popiordanov, head of the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism. This is the ninth year the conference has taken place in Europe, and it boasts hundreds of participants who discuss the latest trends in the market today.
Leading travel publication National Geographic has recognised Bulgaria this year as one of the top 50 places to visit and embark on cultural tours through the country. Experts from the organisation choose Bulgaria and other locales based on the destinations' creative, interesting, immersive and innovative options. This excursion was ranked alongside tours of vineyards in Uruguay, slow food experiences in Italy or a safari adventures in Botswana.
At the beginning of 2012, the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC) based in Germany voted Bulgaria as a hotspot for summer getaways. Travellers took a survey and chose the country as one of the more wallet-friendly places to visit when the weather is favourable and tourists want to hit the beach and see historical attractions. Voting was based on the affordability of various aspects of travel, including cheap shopping opportunities, dining out, leisure activities and informative tours.
Although individuals who answered the questionnaire were from places like Spain, Turkey, Germany and France, Kiwis can have just as much fun exploring the wonders that this destination has to offer. Travellers from New Zealand can spend time seeing unique and cultural architecture in the capital city of Sofia, or take a motorcycle tour though the country to check out the coast, caves and small villages surrounded by green landscapes.
